As many people do Poojaa of God's images - pictures or idols, here are given some important things to know about it.

Number of Devtaa and Their Idols
(1) It is prohibited to worship only one Devtaa, that is why if one wishes to fulfill his desires, he should worship several Devtaa.

(2) Five Devtaa are considered main. Although all are important to worship if one is devoted to all of them, still they should be worshipped in this sequence - Soorya, Ganesh, Durgaa, Shankar and Vishnu.

Number of Idols
Sometimes several idols gather in a house, therefore it is necessary for a worshipper to keep watch about them. In any one house, one should be never establish two Shiv Ling, two Shankh (conch), two Soorya idols, two Shaalgraam, two Gomatee Chakra, three Ganesh idols and three Devee idols.

Time of Establishing Idol
To establish the idols there are some some auspicious and inauspicious timings.
To establish Ganesh Jee's idol -
Months - Chaitra, Vaishaakh, Jyeshth, Maagh and Phaalgun
Vaar (Days) - All days except Mangal Vaar (Tuesday)
Tithi - All Tithi are good except 4th, 9th, and 14th
Nakshatra - Ashwinee, Rohinee, Mrigshiraa, Pushya, U-Paalgunee, Hast, Swaati, Anuraadhaa, Mool, P-Aashaadh, U-Aashaadh, P-Bhaadrapad, U-Bhaadrapad, and Revatee are auspicious.

Measurement of Idols
Although all kinds of idols - large, small, are established in temples, but, according to Matsya Puraan, in a house, one should establish an idol of his 12 finger wide measurement (from the tip of the smallest finger to the tip of the thumb).

The Direction of the Idols' Face
According to Naarad Puraan, One should establish all the idols in North-East direction facing West direction. If somebody's Isht Devtaa is Ganapati, then
Ganesh should be established in the middle
Vishnu's idol should be established in North-East
Shankar's idol should be established in South-East
Soorya's idol should be established in South-West
Durgaa's idol should be established in North-West direction
