Maagh

(1) Maagh was a well-known Sanskrit poet who has written "Shishupaal Vadh" in 8th century AD.

(2) 11th month of the Indian Lunar year.

Maagh Snaan
The bath which is taken in the month of Maagh. In this month, like Kaarttik month, people get up early in the morning and take bath and worship. Although people take bath in Gangaa at many places but taking bath at Prayaag, Sangam, is more fruitful than taking bath at other places. It is the annual version of Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh (half Kumbh). It starts from Sankraanti day and ends on Mahaa Shiv Raatri day in the month of February.

In fact normally if one cannot go anywhere, one can stay at home and take bath in some water body outside the house - such as river, pond, well etc. If these places are also not around, one can take it in the home also but not with warm water. Taking bath with warm water doesn't give its result.

Its Snaan importance has been given at many places -  Padm Puraan, 5/31
