Haldee

Haldee or Haridra in Hindi, Curcuma caesia is its botanical name. Turmeric in English. Haldee is a spice, used by Indians in most of their daily food. (see "List of Spices" for other spices). It has some medicinal uses also. There are two types of Haldee - yellow Haledee and black Haldee. People eat yellow Haldee.

Black Haldee
This plant it's available in all places and one needs to differentiate between regular Haldee (yellow Haldee) and Kaalee Haldee (black Haldee) with its violet shades on its leaves.

If this is grown in black soil, which is forest areas because of forest fire and accumulation of lot of bio fertilizers (like leaves herbal wastage) upon the rocks, under the shades and in the caves, in such environment, if you let it grow without disturbing it for 5-10 years you might get pure black Haldee, of course depends upon the weather conditions, soil, water and rocks. So you have to take out old rhizomes for use, not in sunlight, only in night time and keep it in shade as well. It could be used for several purposes. The people who use it claim to have been using for good luck
