Shiv's Names Given in MBH and Elsewhere -

Sri KA Subrahmanya Iyer on Shiv Sahastra Naam (recited by Krishn to Yudhishthir as requested by Bheeshm - see Anushaasan Parv 13.17.30-150 - Mahaabhaarat) . The Shiv Sahastra Naam (composed by Rishi Thandi) was recited by Upamanyu to Krishn. The exhaustive commentary (in Malayalam), published by Vidyarambham Publishers, Alappuzha (1998) is well written with numerous references and quotations of Shlok from Mahaabhaarat, Geetaa, Puraan, Upanishad and Ved for each name. The scholarly commentary states the reference stories as applicable. Moreover indexes are given for the names as well as the quotes.  Mr Iyer has also written commentaries to Vishnu Sahastra Naam and Lalitaa Sahastra Naam. Anushaasan Parv contains the popular Vishnu Sahastra Naam (recited by Bheeshm to Yudhishthir ) as well.
