Puraan | 9-Bhavishya Puraan | 4-Uttar Parv
9-Bhavishya Puraan, 4-Uttar Parv-147, p 555-557 Kaanchan Puree Vrat In any month, in any Paksh, keep fast on Triteeyaa, or Ashtamee, or Ekaadashee, or Poornimaa, or Amaavasyaa or Sankraanti. Vratee should donate Kaanchan Puree on this day. First thing in the morning, the Vratee should take bath, and not talk to any bad man. Take a conch shell with gold filled with water, make that water Abhimantrit with 12-letter Mantra and drink it. Build a Vedee with four sticks of Shamee tree which should be 2 yards long and wide. Decorate that Vedee flower garland, canopy, Dhoop etc. Draw a lotus flower in the center of the Vedee, put a low stool on it and establish Lakshmee Naaraayan on that stool. Put a Kalash filled with water in front of them and pretend it as Ksheer Saagar. Keep the idol of Kaanchan Puree made of one Pal, or two Pal or four Pal gold (16 or 32 Tolaa, 175 or 350 gram) or on the Kalash. Keep banana trunk in front of it. Keep an idol of Vishnu and Lakshmee in the center of the Puree. Bathe Naaraayan and Lakshmee with Panchaamrit, worship them with Ganapati, Lokpaal etc. Then offer Naivedya of Kheer, Suhaal, Phenee, Laddoo, fruits etc. Read Purush Sookt. Feed 16 Braahman couples and give all worshipped things to them. Donate a bed also. Vratee should not see Kaanchan Puree, so he should cover it with a cloth, his own eyes also with a cloth and bring it to the Mandap and aske Braahman to see that Puree. Then Vratee should open eyes, offer flowers to Braahman and see the Puree. Keep five gems, Gangaa water, fruit, mustard seeds, rice, Haldee, in a silver, copper or conch shell, make Arghya mixed with yogurt and offer them to Vishnu and pray to Him, "Fulfill my all desires by giving this Puree." Celebrate the occasion, do Jaagaran in the night - this Jaagaran gives the fruits of 100 Yagya. In the morning, feed Braahman couples, satisfy beggars, and take food himself also with brothers and friends. You also did this Vrat previously, that is why you got me."
