Glory of Geetaa's Chapter 6

Bhagavaan said - "Now I tell you about the glory of Geetaa's 6th chapter. Hearing this people attain Mukti very easily.  There is a huge city, named Pratishthaanpur, on the banks of Godaavaree. I live there with the name of Pippalesh. King Jaanshruti ruled in that city. His people loved him very much. He was very religious too. Even Devtaa loved to eat his Naivedya. Everything was just good in his kingdom. Once pleased with his Vrat, Daan and Tap, Devtaa came from Swarg to bestow him Var. They came in the form of swans. When they were flying in the sky, they were talking also. From among them Bhadraashwa etc swans were moving fast, so the following swans said - "Why are you going so fast. This path is difficult, so we should fly together. See how bright is shining Jaanshruti's glory?" The swans flying in front said - "Is this glory brighter than the glory of Mahaatmaa Raikwa?"

Hearing this Jaanshruti came down from his palace's roof, came and sat on his throne and said to his Saarathee - "Go and bring Mahaatmaa Raikwa." Saarathee went away from there. First of all he went to Kaashee where the Lord of the Universe Bhagavaan Vishwanaath discourses people. Then he went to Gayaa where Gadaadhar lives for the welfare of the people. After Gayaa, he came to Mathuraa Nagaree where Krishn lives. It is situated on the banks of Kaalindee (Yamunaa) River. It looks there like the shape of half Moon. Then he proceeded towards West and North and found Kaashmeer city where Bhagavaan Chandrashekhar lives with the name of Maanikyeshwar. The King of Kaashmeer Maanikyesh worshipped Shiv after winning all the kings. Since then he is known as Maanikyeshwar.

Mahaatmaa Raikwa was sitting in his small carriage at the door of the same temple. Saarathee had recognize him soon. He greeted his feet and said - "Brahman, Where do you live? What is your full name? You always wander freely, then how are you sitting here?" Hearing this Raikwa though for a while and then said - "Although I am satisfied fully still anybody can serve us according to my nature." Saarathee understood him, he again greeted his feet and came back to the King and told everything. King got very surprised to hear this, a desire arose in his heart to serve him. He took a carriage drawn by two she-donkeys and took pearl necklaces, fine clothes and 1,000 cows also.

As he arrived in Kaashmeer region, he kept everything before Raikwa and did Sa-Ashtaang Pranaam to him. But Raikwa got very angry seeing the King prostrating, he said angrily - "O Shoodra, You are a wicked King. Don't you know about me? Take everything from here." The King got frightened, he held his feet and said - "How did you get this greatness, tell me also." Raikwa said - "I daily read Geetaa's sixth chapter, that is why my glory is intolerable even for Devtaa.' After that the King also read this chapter and attained Moksh.

Glory of Geetaa's Chapter 7

Shiv Jee said - "Paarvatee - Now I tell you the glory of the 7th chapter of Geetaa hearing by which ears are full of Amrit. There is a city named Paataliputra whose Gopur (main gate) is very high. There lived a Braahman named Shankukarn. He earned a lot of money by Vaishya Vritti (trading and business), but he neither did Pitar's Tarpan, nor worshipped Devtaa. He only fed kings. Once it so happened that he traveled with his sons and daughters-in-law to marry himself the fourth time. On the way when he was sleeping, that a snake bit him and unfortunately he died. After a long time he was born in snake Yoni. He still thought about wealth. He remembered his previous life, so he knew that where he had buried his wealth. He thought to protect himself instead of giving it to his sons.

When he got very restless as a snake, he told everything to his sons in their dream. Next day his sons discussed their dream among themselves. His middle son took a spade and came to the place his father told him and started digging there. But a terrible snake appeared there and asked him what was he doing there? The son said - "I am your son, my name is Shiv. You told me about the wealth buried here in my dream yesterday, that is why I have come here." The snake laughed and said - "If you are my son, then first release me from this Yoni. I have been born in this Yoni to protect my wealth only." The son asked - "Father, Tell me how will you be freed from this Yoni, tell me soon. I have come to you leaving everybody at home." The father said - "Son, No other thing - Teerth, Daan, Tap or Yagya can free me from this Yoni; except the Paath of 7th chapter of Geetaa, as only that is capable of eliminating the sorrow of old age and death etc sorrows. On the day of my Shraaddh, feed the Braahman who does the Paath of 7th chapter of Geetaa. If you can feed more Braahman, it is better."

His all sons obeyed him more than what he said to them. Shankukarn got freed from his snake Yoni, he got his Divine body and gave all his wealth to his sons. The sons used that wealth for the welfare of the people.

Glory of Geetaa's Chapter 8

Shiv Jee said - "Devee, Now you listen to the glory of the 8th chapter of Geetaa. [So when Lakshmee Jee asked Vishnu about it Vishnu Said - ] "There is a very famous city in South named Aamardakpur. There lived a Braahman, named Bhaav Sharmaa. He had a prostitute as his wife. He committed all kinds of sins - gambling, drinking, hunting etc. One day when he was sitting with drinkers, so he drank a lot of Taadee (liquor made from palm tree). He fell sick and died. He was born as a large palm tree. Under it lived a husband and wife in the form of Brahm-Raakshas.

The couple's previous life story is like that - There was a Braahman, named Kusheebal. He was very learned and religious. His wife's name was Kumati. She was very greedy. So in spite of being a good Braahman, Kusheebal used to accept large donation to satisfy his wife, but he never gave anything to any other Braahman. When their Time came, they died and became Brahm-Raakshas. Hungry and thirsty they came to the same Palm tree (Bhaav Sharmaa) and took rest there . The wife asked her husband - "Swaamee, How we will be free from this sorrow?" Braahman said - "We cannot be freed from this sorrow without listening to discourse on Brahm Vidyaa, thinking about Adhyaatm Tattwa and knowledge of Karm method."

Hearing this, his wife asked - "Kim Tad Brahm Kim Dhyaatmam Kim Karm Purushottam? (Hey Purushottam, What is that Brahm? What is Adhyaatm, and which is Karm?" As she pronounced these words, a strange thing occurred there (the above Sanskrit words are the half part of a Shlok of Geetaa's 8th chapter). Hearing that Shlok, the palm tree changed its form and became Bhaav Sharmaa Braahman. By attaining Gyaan immediately, he got freed from his tree Yoni; besides, that couple who was living under the palm tree also got freed from their Brahm-Raakshas Yoni. A Vimaan came from the sky and took that couple to Swarg Lok. After that Bhaav Sharmaa wrote that half Shlok and went to Kaashee with the desire of worshipping Janaardan. There he started doing Tapasyaa.

At the same time Vishnu stood up. Seeing Him standing Lakshmee Jee asked Him - "Naath, Why did you stand up abandoning your sleep?" He said - "That Braahman is doing Tapasyaa on the banks of Gangaa River and is doing Jaap of this half Shlok of Geetaa's 8th chapter. I am very pleased with him. In fact I was thinking about its fruit for a long time, now I am ready to give its fruit to him." Lakshmee Jee asked - "In spite of being happy all the time, Hari got worried for that man, what fruit did that Bhaav Sharmaa get?" Vishnu said - "Devee, Bhaav Sharmaa attained Moksh and his other family members who fell in Narak also went to Bhgavaan's Dhaam. I told you the glory of 8th chapter of Geetaa in short, so always keep it in mind."
