Sagar, Saudaas, Khatwaang and Raam

Paraashar Jee said - "Raajaa Sagar had two wives - Kaashyap's daughter Sumati and Keshinee. Both worshipped Aurv Muni for children. Aurv said - "One will have only one son who will extend the family line and other will have 60,000 sons. So whoever wishes whatever, ask for it." At this Keshinee asked the Var of one son and Sumati asked for 60,000 sons. After some time Keshinee gave birth to a son who was named Asmanjas; and Sumati had 60,000 sons. Asmanjas had the son named Anshumaan. Asmanjas was very ill-behaved since his childhood. Sagar thought that maybe he would be all right when he would grow up, but when he did not improve himself even after being grown-up, he abandoned him. His 60,000 sons also behaved in the same way. At the result of this religious activities got stopped in his country.

Devtaa went to Kapil Jee and said - "Hey Bhagvan, Sagar's all sons are following Asmanjas' behavior. If this will continue like this, what will happen to this world? Please help us." Kapil Jee said - "Don't worry, they will all be destroyed in a short time." At the same time Sagar did Ashwamedh Yagya. Somebody stole his Yagya horse and entered Prithvi. Sagar's 60,000 sons followed him by his footsteps. There they saw their horse wandering around and nearby was sitting Kapil Jee bending his head. They thought that this was the man who stole their father's horse, so they ran towards him to kill him. In the meantime Kapil Jee looked at them, they all got burned to ashes.

When Raajaa Sagar came to know about this, that his all sons have been burned by Kapil Jee, he sent his grandson Anshumaan to bring the horse. He also followed his uncles' footsteps and came to the place where Kapil Jee was sitting. He prayed him. Kapil Jee said - "Son, Take your horse and give it to your grandfather and you may ask anything you wish for. Your grandson will bring Gangaa on Prithvi." Anshumaan said - "Give me such Var which can give Mukti to my great grand uncles." Kapil Jee said - "I have told you before that your grandson will bring Gangaa on Prithvi. As its water will touch their ash they will get Mukti. Its water is not only useful for those who take bath etc in it with wish, but even the dead people without wish can also go to Swarg."

Anshumann took the horse and came back to his city. Sagar finished his Yagya and regarded Saagar (sea) as his son. Anshumaan had a son named Dileep and Dileep had he son named Bhageerath. Bhageerath brought Gangaa on Earth and so Gangaa was called Bhaageerathee also.

One day Saudaas went for hunting. He saw two lions there. Thinking that he had killed all the lions of that forest, he killed one of them. That lion assumed the form of a terrible Raakshas and the other one disappeared saying, "I will take revenge of this." Later Saudaas did a Yagya. When Yagya had finished and Vashishth Jee went out, the same Raakshas came assuming the form of Vashishth Jee and said to Saudaas - "On the completion of the Yagya you should offer me the food with human flesh, therefore you prepare such food while I come back soon." And off he went. Then he came back assuming the form of the cook and cooked the food with human flesh. When Vashishth Jee came back, Saudaas offered him that food to him.

Vashishth Jee thought, "See his wickedness that he is offering me meat in spite of knowing it." So he concentrated his powers and knew that the meat was of human being. He became very angry and gave him Shaap - "Because you have offered me human flesh in spite of knowing therefore you will always desire such food and you become Raakshas." Raajaa said - "But you yourself ordered me to offer you such food." At this Vashishth Jee concentrated again and found him not guilty, so he said - "You will not eat human flesh for long time, it will be only for 12 years."

Hearing Vashishth Jee, Saudaas also got ready to give Shaap to Vashishth Jee, but his wife Madayantee stopped him doing so saying that he was a Braahman. Saudaas became calm but he did not throw that Abhimantrit water in sky or on Prithvi, he just dropped it on his feet. This burned his feet, so they became black. Since then he was called Kalmaashpaad. Because of Vashishth's Shaap he became Raakshas and started eating human beings from the last part of the third day from that day.

Once he saw a Muni with his wife, he caught the Braahman to eat. His wife requested him to free her husband but he ate him. Then the Braahman's wife gave him Shaap - "I was unsatisfied and you ate my husband, so you will also die when you will be with your wife." Twelve years passed and Saudaas became normal. Then one day when he wanted to be with his wife, his wife reminded him of Braahman's wife's Shaap, so he requested Vashishth Jee to give him a son. Vashishth Jee impregnated her, but when the child did not born even until seven years, then the queen hit it with a stone and the child was born. He was named as Ashmak. Khatwaang immediately came back to Earth from Swarg Lok and said - "If I have loved Braahman more than my life; if I have always followed my Dharm; if I have always treated all the creatures like Shree Hari, then I should get His Parampad without any obstacle." And he left his physical body meditating on Shree Hari. There He killed Viraadh, Khar, Dooshan etc Raakshas and Kabandh and Baali too. Then He built a bridge on sea and killed all Raakshas. He brought Seetaa, abducted by Raavan, back home. At that time the whole Ayodhyaa celebrated their coming back which cannot be described even in hundred years. Many Muni and Devtaa came to coronate Him as the king of Ayodhyaa. He ruled Ayodhyaa for 11,000 years. Bharat killed 30 million (3 Crore) Gandharv in Gandharv Lok; and Shatrughn killed Madhu's son Lavan Asur and inhabited Mathuraa Nagaree.
