Amaavasyaa and Poornimaa - the two last days of the two Paksh (fortnight) of the Hindu Lunar month - Amaavasyaa on the 16th day and Poornimaa on the 30h day. Thus there are 12 Amaavasyaa nd 12 Poornimaa in a year. Some Amaavasyaa and some Poornimaa are more auspicious than others.

If any Amaavasyaa falls on Saturday, it is called Shani Amaavasyaa.
If any Poornimaa falls on Wednesday, it is called Budh Poornimaa
