Earth's Age
[From Bhaagvat Puraan]

According to Bhaagvat Puraan
Brahmaa's present age, which is absolute present age of our Sun and the Earth, is 50 years of Brahmaa's age (half age of Brahmaa) X 720 days and nights X 1000 4-Yug X 4.32 million years of the 4-Yug (one day of Brahmaa) + 1,972 million years* (the existing age of our Earth planet = 155.521972 million years).

1 4-Yug = 4,320,000 Human years
1,000 4-Yug = 4,320,000,000 Human years/ 4320 million years
1 Kalp = 1,000 4-Yug = 14 Manvantar
1 Manvantar = 71.43 4-Yug = 4,320 million years,

Presently 6 Manvantar, 27 4-Yug and 3 Yug of the 28th 4-Yug have passed, it means
6 Manvantar = 6,000 4-Yug = 25,920 million + 116.6400 (27 4-Yug + 3.8931 (the three Yug and the elapsed time of Kali Yug) = 1971.9616 in 1998 AD.

Brahmaa's age is 100 years.
1 year of Brahmaa is of 360 Divine days
1 month of Brahmaa is 30 days, so 350 X 50 = 18,000 Divine days and nights of Brahmaa has elapsed.
Thus our Earth and the Sun have already been renovated 18,000 times.
It is a big figure, but reasonable if you think over it deeply and again it is given by an all-knowing personality - Maharshi Ved Vyaas, Ansh Avataar of Vishnu.

Jains have 24 Teerthankars ( see the list at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tirthankar) starting from -- millions of years ago. So even if we go by Jain Dharm, then also our Prithvi'a age is proved very long. I think writing by "Poorv Years" or "Great Years" in Wikipedia the author means "Divine Year", and if it is true, it enforces the age of the Earth.
