Vashishtha Calls Bharat Back, Bharat Performs Last Rites of Dashratha

It was terrible shock to the queens, family, friends; they lost the head,
The night was difficult, in the morning came Vashishtha so very sad.
He asked to save the king's body in a tub of oil with herbal medicine,
Messengers were sent to Bharat, Shatrughan, in a collective decision.

The messengers were on the way; Bharat saw some very bad dreams,
He offered prayers to Lord Shiva, and donations without the seams.
The messengers reached in the West to dear Bharat in ten long days,
Asked the brothers to return immediately with the speed of sunrays.

In eight days Bharat, Shatrughan reached home, welcomed by mother,
Bharat did not see things very normal, he asked, "Where is the father?"
"Oh Bharat! I carried out entire plan systematically, but had a crack,
Your father passed away early, what can I do, please give me a break".

After listening to Kakeyee, Bharat failed to understand this sad news,
"What are you talking to me, dear father died; this event is not huge?"
"Oh! I could not see my father in his last moments; what is the reason?
Why were you hiding this, who killed him, how he died, any treason?"

"Son! This is long a story; I have captured kingdom of Awadh for you,
I could avert the coronation of Ram; you will be the king, O son you!"
Kakeyee was jubilant, over Joyous, she did tell the incidents in detail,
Bharat, Shatrughan felt tortured, she was hitting in coffin nail after nail.

Bharat, Shatrughan were crying, tears were profuse in eyes, on cheeks,
It was intolerable, unthinkable, hurting to listen bit, as Kakeyee speaks. 
"O mother! You made to die dear father, and you do not have remorse,
Sent Ram, Laxman, Sita in jungle; how you changed; is any source?" 

"You have killed me even when I am alive, you tortured entire family,
You brought permanent blemish on me, tell me who is your sick ally?"
"You should not have given birth to me, the basis of this destruction,
You are no more my mother, go away; do not be in my observation".  

"O son! I did this all for you; please try to understand the importance,
Dear Manthara was the brain; your talks are naive, full of ignorance".
"In due course of time all matters will be normal, items fall in place,
You have kingship, rule the subject with authority; do not be a mess". 

"O mother! You became my eternal enemy; sent Ram, Sita in jungle,
Ram is my brother, friend, master, he is with the universe, not single".
Ram is my heart, my worship; he is the friend of saints and all beings,
You became so cruel, sent him in jungle, devoid of Ram bad all things".

"Please go away from my sight and never ever talk to me for kingdom,
I will see mother Koshlya, Sumitra; I have lost respect and freedom". 
Bharat and Shatrughan left the palace and Kakeyee with terrible mood,
They came to mother Koshlya, expecting her to react now much rude.

Koshlya saw dear Bharat very sad, pale faced and his eyes full of tears,
She offered a hug to Bharat, placed her hand on his head, as he nears.
"O Mother! What has happened, Kakeyee destroyed, killed the clan?
Please believe me, I swear, I was totally unaware of the sinister plan".

"In any way I am not a part of Kakeyee's and Manthara's activities,
To follow the Guru Vashishtha and see Ram will be my priorities".
"Please calm yourself, you lost your husband and sons are in jungle,
Daughter-in law is suffering in woods, two women created the tangle".

"O Bharat! I do not have words to express my loss and difficult pain,
Kakeyee did loot me, she was planning for you to have major gain". 
My husband is in heaven, dear Sita, Ram, Laxman have gone forest,
I am still alive for what? The almighty God knows, what to be, best".

"You please do what is needed, the king's body needs its last right,
Become the king, take care of the people, mothers with kingly might".
Dear Ram, Sita and Laxman will return home after fourteen long years,
May be I will live or not; Queen Kakeyee, the royal motherhood bears". 

"I have not much with me to calm dear mother; I will not be the king, 
Whenever it may, Ram will be the king, please keep me out of ring".
Dear Bharat, Shatrughan were crying, then there came mother Sumitra,
"Sons! We are totally devastated in Awadh by Kakeyee's evil mantra".

The night was painful, in the morning Guru Vashishtha came there,
He asked Bharat to be administrator, complete the last rights here.
After twelve days Vashishtha called a meeting of executive assembly,
"The king's last rights are done, Bharat is to be king from the family".
