Vaamdev
(1) Vaamdev - Rishi of Dasharath
One Vaamdev was the one of the three sons of
Gautam and Ahalyaa - Vaamdev, Nodhaa and
Shataanand. Vaamdev is a Raamaayan character. He was one of the 8 Rishi
who were living in Dasharath's court. It is said that he was a great
Gyaanee since even before his birth.
(2) Vaamdev Who had Vaamya Horses
There was another Vaamdev Rishi. This Vaamdev is a Vaidik Rishi. His father's
name was Ushij. He is the seer of some Sookt which are collected in Rig Ved,
4th Mandal. He owned two very fast running horses named Vaamya. This story
comes in
Mahaabhaarat, 4/35 - Story of Pareekshit. Maarkandeya Jee tells this story
to Paandav, while they are in forest, Arjun is in Swarg to take divine weapons,
Maarkandeya Muni comes in and both Yudhshthir and Maarkandeya Muni have a long
dialog. At that time Maarkandeya Muni tells him several stories. One of them is
the story of an Ikshwaaku King Pareekshit in reference to greatness of Braahman.
