Saatyaki

Saatyaki's other name was Yuyudhaan. Saatyaki was a cousin of Krishn and came from Vrishni Vansh. According to Puraan he was the grandson of Shinee and the son of Satyak. He was a great devotee of Krishn and a good friend of Arjun, so he regarded Arjun very much. He even learned archery from Arjun under the guidance of Dronaachaarya. He used to fight like Arjun. He fought from Paandav's side in Mahaabhaarat war. Saatyaki was such a good warrior that on one particular occasion, even Drone was stunned when Saatyaki broke his bow for 101 times successively. He is also known as the unconquerable Saatyaki. He also went to Hastinaapur on Peace mission when Krishn and Kritavarmaa went there.

In the MBH war, Saatyaki and Kritavarmaa were the two important Yaadav heroes who fought on opposing sides. Saatyaki fought from the Paandav's side, and Kritavarmaa joined the Kaurav. In the course of the 14th day of the battle, Saatyaki fights an intense battle with his archrival Bhoorishravaa with whom he had a long standing family feud. After a long and bloody battle, Saatyaki begins to tire, and Bhoorishravaa batters him and drags him across the battlefield. Lord Krishn warns Arjun of what was happening. Bhoorishravaa prepares to kill Saatyaki, but Arjun rescues him from death. Arjun shoots an arrow cutting off Bhoorishravaa's arm.

Later he killed Somdatt on the 14th day of war. See also Saatyaki and Bhoorishravaa.
