(1) There are two Nal. One was in Tretaa Yug in Raam's times. He was a Vaanar and he helped Raam to build bridge over sea to cross to go to Lankaa. When it was decided that all Devtaa should produce their children to help Raam to kill Raavan, all Devtaa produced their sons in the form of monkeys and bears. Nal was the son of Vishwakarmaa and thus was an engineer. He helped Raam by building the bridge over the sea.

Nal had a boon from his mother. In his childhood he used to throw his playthings into water, only to see them floating, but they were all submerged into the water. His mother then gave a boon to him saying that whatever article he would throw in waters all will float, may they be toys or stones or boulders. Here that boon has taken advantage of, and a boulder bridge is built on oceanic waters.

(2) Another Nal was the king of Nishadh Desh. He married Damayantee. He worked for Raajaa Rituparn of Ayodhyaa as his charioteer Baahuk. Read his story - Raajaa Nal.
