Veetahavya, Raajaa |
Veetahavya, Raajaa A Story from Yog Vashishth Vashishth Jee said to Shree Raam in his Yog Vashishth - "Hey Raam, now you listen to the story of King Veetahavya to obtain great knowledge. Sage Veetahavya did many religious rites for many long years but he was not satisfied with them. he felt somewhat disappointed, so he renounced all the rituals and withdrew his mind from all materialistic worldly affairs. He sat in a peaceful state to attain tranquility. Gradually he abandoned all internal and external contacts and he thought - "This mind is really unsteady, it hops from one object to another like a monkey hops from one branch of a tree to another branch of the tree." Then he told his mind - "I know you, O Mind. I shall abandon you, and I will reside in my own Self in the fourth state - Tureeya Avasthaa. There was a king named Veethavya. Once he got dejected from all worldly affairs, illusions, sufferings, so he sat in a deep meditation stabilizing his mind. He thought that this mind is the most unsteady and fickle even if it is introvert. It always goes back to worldly things through its five channels (senses) - eyes, nose, ears, tongue and skin. But I can see that even my senses are not going out still my mind runs towards worldly things. Although when a farmer harvests, the sickle (tool) seems to be doer, but the energy and intelligence are of the farmer - and that come from the consciousness. In the same way although you seem to be on work, but your energy and intelligence come from the infinite consciousness. If you are the Self, then the Self exists, ; and if you are inert, you have no existence, so abandon the delusion and realize the Self which alone exists. Why do you grieve and suffer unnecessarily? That Self does not need your grief, care or worry, Self alone is necessary to be feared. There is no mind, Self alone exists, and I am that Self. Vashishth Jee said - "Veetahavya sat in this condition for 300 years, as if he sat only for a day, and he became one with Consciousness. he entered into subtle body, then into Sun's orbit, then again descended into his physical body, although it had been withered before. he again sat in the meditation. He then said to his senses again - "The self does not belong to you at all, nor you belong to the Self. You be perished. You are an error in the Self, and error is always an error till on has earned the knowledge - and after the error is removed the Self shines. After this he lived for long time in his wisdom, free from errors. He renounced all visions and experiences. Later his body was disintegrated in to elements. So Hey Raam, you also meditate continuously on what has been said."
