Vajraang was the son of Maharshi Kashyap and Diti. It seems that he was born to Diti after the birth of Hiranyaaksh, Hiranyakashyap and 49 Marud Gan. he was born by the boon of Kashyap Jee. He said to Diti - "You will have a son whose body will be as hard as diamond - unbreakable and indestructible. Since Diti wanted revenge from Devtaa, so she asked Vajraang to defeat Indra and take control of his kingdom, Indra Lok. Vajraang did that, but then Indra was released.

Vajraang did sever penance for Brahmaa Jee. Brahmaa Jee created Varaangee as his wife and then granted the boon that they would have a very mighty son after 1,000 years. Vajraang went to do Tapasyaa and Varaangee sat on the shore waiting for him. he did Tapasyaa raising his arms for 1,000 years, then he lived under the water for 1,000 years. When Vajraang was in water, his varaangee also sat on the shore and did Tapasyaa without eating and drinking. After completing 1,000 years in water Brahmaa Jee appeared and asked Vajraang to ask for a boon. He said - "I should not have any demonic feelings, i should attain immortal Lok, and I should always do Tapasyaa till I am alive." Brahmaa Jee said - "So be it." and went to his Lok.

But after obtaining the boon when he came back to his Aashram,  he did not find his wife there. After searching for some time, he found her weeping. On asking why was she weeping, she said - "I am like an orphan in spite of you being alive. Indra frightened me with a terrible form and threw me out of the Aashram and gave me lots of trouble. Give me a son who can end my troubles." Although he was quite capable to punish Indra himself but he intended to do tap again. He said to Brahmaa Jee - "After obtaining boon from you I went back to my Aashram and did not find my wife there. Later on when I found her she told me that Indra had troubled her a lot. Now she wants a son who can end her troubles. So if you are pleased please give me such a son." Brahmaa jee said - "you need not to do Tap again, You will get very mighty son named Taarak." And Brahmaa Jee went away.

Vajraang went back to his wife and made his wife happy. Varaangee kept the child in her womb for 1,000 years, and then gave birth to Taarak named son. So they had a son named Taarak.
