Soorya Dev and Number Seven

Soorya was born on Saptamee

Soorya's Seven Service Personnel
They are - 1. Nakshatra, 2. Months, 3. Fortnights, 4. Seasons, 5. Years, 6. Days, and 7. Nights.

He has Seven Indriyas (organs) they are 1. Two eyes 2. Two nostrils 3. Two ears 4. One face. Soorya Bhagavaan is the person that activates the functions of these organs.

He has a Horse by name Sapt. Having a Chariot with this name he is called as Sapta Sapti. This name is denoted at the end of Kalki Avataar riding this horse.

Seven Horses of Soorya's Chariot
Soorya Dev travels on his chariot which has seven horses for his chariot. These horses are seven rays. Bhavishya Puraan gives their names thus -
(1) Jaya (the first ray bestows firm conviction, mental and physical strength generosity domination of others and benevolence),
(2) Ajaya (gives Compassion, tranquility and intelligence, inward understanding,
(3) Vijaya (Voracious reading, high thinking and spiritual base)
(4) Jeetpraan (deep thinking, extremely kind, merciful)
(5) Jeetkram (grants high quality discipline, very knowledgeable and scientific evaluators)
(6) Manojap (dedication and devotion, sincere and pursues the path of truth)
(7) Jeetkrodh (in depth evaluation, artistic taste in fine arts and adoration of beauty, love for display)

The charioteer of his chariot is Kashyap and Vinataa's elder son and Garud's elder brother Arun.
But a Richaa of Rig Ved says that they are not horse but mares.
अयुक्तसप्त  शुन्ध्युवस्सुर्रोरथस्य नप्त्यः ताभिर्याति स्वयुक्तिभिः
means: the Sun, bound 7 female horses to his chariot that will never fall. He comes to the Yagya Griha accompanied by them. (Hence he should be offered Havishya)

Seven Rays of Soorya
There are seven rays of Soorya - 1. Sushumnaa 2. Surandan 3. Udannvasu 4. Vishwakarmaa, 5. Udaavasu 6. Vishwaa Vyaas 7. Harikesh
(1) Sushumnaa - This is equivalent to the brightness of thousand rays. This ray with this name make Chandra (Moon) the most beautiful one. The Nectar given by the Full Moon to all the penis bestows on them all happiness and pleasure.
(2) Surandan - The Moon has originated from this ray. Even the rays of are only the rays of Soorya (Sun) alone.
(3) Udannvasu : From this the Kujaa Graha (planet) is originated. This ray of Soorya will protect the living being from the defects of blood, and gives them health, brilliance and wealth.
(4) Vishwa Karmaa : This constructs the Budh Graha (planet). This ray will remove the mental agitations of the people and grants all auspiciousness and peace.
(5) Udaavasu - This ray constructs Brihaspati planet. This planet grants pleasures and liberation to all living beings. By worshipping this planet all hurdles, obstructions, opposition will be removed and success is achieved.
(6) Vishwa Vyaas - Shukra and Shani have originated from this ray. Among them Shukra is responsible for Veerya (sperm) Shukra is in charge of humans procreation and also his ray brings death. Hence by worshipping this ray one will get complete longevity.
(7) Harikesh - Due to this ray, all Stars (Nakshatra) are born. These come to be known as Nakshatra because they are protecting the human bodies from the loss of strength, Veerya, and Tej.

Seven Colors of Seven Rays of Soorya
Soorya's seven rays are of seven colors which one can see in a rainbow -
(1) violet, (2) indigo, (3) sky blue, (4) green, (5) yellow, (6) orange and (7) red -
(popularly known as VIBGYOR or ROYGBIV).
All other colors rays, except the sky blue color rays, are absorbed by the environment till they reach the Earth, that is why the sky looks blue, because only sky blue color is not absorbed by anything, so it spreads all around.
