Sarg 65-Kumbhkarn's Appearance in Battlefield

Kumbhkarn said to Raavan threatening Mahodar - "Hey Raajan, I will make you fearless by killing Raam. Brave people do not boast." Then he said to Mahodar - "Only foolish king will agree with you. Counselors like you have made the kingdom poor and without public." Hearing this Raavan said smilingly - "This Mahodar has got afraid of Raam that is why he is talking like this. You go to the battlefield and kill the enemy. We have awaken you only for this. Take your trident and eat the whole Vaanar army along with Raam and Lakshman."

So Kumbhkarn picked his trident which was made of iron and said to Raavan - "I will not take any army with me because I am hungry. I can eat all of them alone." Raavan said - "You should take your army along with you, because Vaanar are very mighty, so at least the army will protect you in your bad times." Raavan got up and put a gem-studded chain in his neck. He adorned him with many gems. He put the armor on his body in which even air could not pass. Kumbhkarn did Pranaam (greeted) his brother Raavan and headed towards battlefield making loud noises.

Kumbhkarn's look was very fierce and horrifying because his eyes were like a wheel of a chariot. He said to Raakshas smiling - "Today I will eat all chief Vaanar. Our enmity is only with Raam and Lakshman not with Vaanar, because they always live in our forests peacefully." When he started for the battlefield, many bad omens started occurring but he didn't pay any attention to any one of them. He crossed the boundary wall and looked at Vaanar army which had surrounded Lankaa. As Vaanar saw a huge-bodied Raakshas, they ran away in fear in fear. Seeing this Kumbhkarn made a loud noise and hearing that many Vaanar lay down quietly.

Sarg 66-Vaanar Run Away Seeing Kumbhkarn

When Vaanar ran away seeing Kumbhkarn coming, then Angad, Neel, Nal, Gavaaksh, Kumud etc chief Vaanar said to them - "It does not look good to you to run away like small Vaanar. Come O brave Vaanar, come back. Whatever you are seeing it is just to scare us. He cannot fight, so come back.

Vaanar got encouraged and started coming back. They started showering trees and rocks, but whatever rocks hit Kumbhkarn, got shattered. Kumbhkarn got angry and started destroying Vaanar army. Many Vaanar fell on the ground, many were thrown in the sea, many ran away in fear and many hid in caves.

Baali-Putra Angad called from them back - "Come back if you will run away like this then your wives will call you "coward". If you die in the battlefield, you will get Brahm Pad, and if we won them we will get fame. You know this very well that when Kumbhkarn will come face to face with Raam he cannot go back alive." Vaanar said - "We love our lives and we are sure that if we did not run away from here, we will die." Angad consoled them, told the signs of their victory, then they came back.
