Mandodaree

Mandadaree was the daughter of Maya Daanav and an Apsaraa Hemaa. Maya Daanav had built Lankaa Puree for Kuber, the son of Vishravaa and half brother of Raavan, in gold on Trikoot Parvat in the middle of the sea. When Raavan had got hold on Lankaa also after winning all Devtaa and Daanav, Maya Daanav married his daughter Mandodareee to Raavan. She had one son -  Meghnaad - He was known as Indrajeet also as he won Indra. He was killed by Lakshman Jee in Raam-Raavan war. He is said to be the Ansh (part) Avataar of Shiv Jee.

Mandodaree is known as Satee Mandodaree. There are only five Satee women in Indian mythology -
(1) Anasooyaa (Maharshi Atri's wife),
(2) Draupadee (wife of Paandav),
(3) Sulochanaa (Meghnaad's wife),
(4) Saavitree (who brought her husband Satyavaan back from Yam Raaj). and
(5) Mandodaree (Raavan's wife)

She was among Panch Kanyaa (five maidens) also -
(1) Ahalyaa (wife of Rishi Gautam)
(2) Draupadee (wife of Paandav)
(3) Kuntee (wife of Paandu), and
(4) Taaraa (wife of Vaanar Raaj Baali - Sugreev's brother)
(5) Mandodaree (wife of Raavan)

Mandodaree was a very intelligent woman. She advised her husband many times to return Seetaa to Shree Raam but Raavan didn't listen to her and was killed by Shree Raam.
