Dates of MBH Events-2
I found this chronology by Prafull Vaman Mendki in "MBH Discussions" See it for yourself, how far it is close to truth and how much can it be relied upon?

MBH EVENTS - MBH events preceded the Kali Yug:
Following information gives my calculations about Ramayana and Mahaabhaarat

Raamaayan and Mahaabhaarat

Shree Raam was born on 3 Jan 5588 BC (5589 BCE) Greg, Chaitra Shukla 9
(16 Feb 5589 BC Julian) when the Planet positions were as follows:

Sun : 5 deg Aries Moon: 98 degree, Near Punarvasu, Pushya (Cancer)
Venus : 357 Degree (Pisces) Mars : 275 Degree (Capricorn)
Jupiter: 110 Degree (Cancer) Saturn : 182 Degree (Libra),
Rahu: 154 Degree (Virgo) , Mercury : 30 Degree (Taurus)

There were two Chaitra months. First started at 330 Degree and the Second one started on 26 Dec 5589 BC, Greg, at 358 Degree.

After Shree Raam Janm, after 31687 days (1073 months, or 89 years and 5 months), on 25 Sept 5502 BC, in Paush (Magha) Maas on no moon day and Autumn equinox day, Tretaa Yug ended and Dwaapar Yug started.

On 25 Jan 3101 BC, Chaitra Shukla 1, Kali Yug started.

On 24 Jan 3101 BC, Phaalgun no moon day, all planets (except Venus) were in Pisces. Venus was in Aries. All planets were near each other.

On 10 Sept 3008 BC, Kaarttik, no moon day, Sun and Moon were at 213.33 Degree (Naabhi) and there was solar eclipse at Sunrise.
[Mahaabhaarat war started on this day.]

On 18 Dec 3008 BC, Maagh Shukla 8, was Winter Solstice day, Moon was in Rohinee, and Bheeshm died on this day.

26 Dec 5589 BC to 10 Sept 3008 BC = 942,584 days = 31,919 months = [2743 years + 3 months]

10 Sept 3008 BC to 25 June 3001 BC, Bhaadrapad no moon day = 2480 days = 84 months = [7 years]

On 23 June 3001 BC, Bhaadrapad Krishn 13, North Solstice (Summer Solstice) day,
100 years of Sandhi period ended and actual Kali Yug started.

However Shree Krishn was alive at this time and therefore people did not believe that
    Kali Yug had started.

10 Sept 3008 BC Kaarttik was a no moon day to 24 Nov 2003 AD, Kaarttik no moon day
    = 1,830,304 days = 61,980 months = [5165 years]

26 Dec 5589 BC to 24 Nov 2003 AD =2,772,888 days = 93,899 months =
    [7825 years - 1 month less]

Computer programs cannot show these dates correctly because they have not taken
into account change in synodic month properly.

However http://www.moshier.net gives newmoontab.zip correctly.

It shows 11 April 3000 BC (3001 BC) Julian (18 March Greg) at the time 4:08:1.814 as
    new moon time (ephemeris time).

After adding delta Time of 23:46:30 and 5:30 for IST, it gives us 19 March 3000 BC Greg, 9:24:41.814 IST as new moon time.

10 Sept 3008 BC (6:24 AM) to 19 March 3000 BC (9:24AM) =2746.125 days = 93 months = [7 years and 9 months]

Therefore 10 Sept 3008 BC date matches with this table.

According to me lunar month is increasing by 0.00000001283 days/year.

Average synodic month of last 5000 years (MBH to present) is 29.53055667 days.

Average synodic month of last 7500 years (Raamaayan to present) is 29.53054058 days.

Comments on Above Dating
The planetary positions as per Raamaayan matches, since 5 major planets are in exalted position etc. However, I have a doubt, the number of years in Yug are in the ratio (4:3:2:1). How does this match when Dwaapar Yug is so short as you mentioned.

On the 14th day of the war (at sun set there was a solar eclipse?). Does that date of MBH war mentioned by you match with this. Only chance of lunar eclipse just before sun rise on the day of start of war?
Please clarify. ----Regards  Rajasekhar.P
---------------------------------
The number of years in 4 Yug are 4800, 3600, 2400 and 1200 respectively. Dwaapar Yug was from 25 Sept 5502 BC to 25 Jan 3101 BC which is 2400 years. According to me there was solar eclipse on the starting day of war only i.e. 10 Sept 3008 BC Greg, Kaartik no moon day. But on 26 August 3008 BC, (i.e. before war there was lunar eclipse.)    ----Prafulla

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it appears that Kali Yug ended around 1900 BCE. That means we are either living in an age between Yug, or we have been in Tretaa Yug for some time, since it has been less than 4800 years after 1900 BCE. This being Tretaa Yug we must all be leading exemplary lives, like gods.
Cheers,  ---- Kamesh

Make a chronology of MBH events. though I don't agree with the dates you have arrived at, for MBH events cannot be so far off matter, I am eager to know your opinion on the age of Paandav etc at various juncture on the basis of planetary calculations. i hope it would not be as ludicrous as Paandav were young chaps of about 80 years during the war etc. Kamesh, let us calculate how many Indra-Bushes will be there around the bush beating bushes throughout the Kali Yug.  ----indrajit bandyopadhyay
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have made calculations from 12 April 3021 BC, Greg, Ashaadh Shukla 3, when Paandav went to forest to 18 Dec 3008 BC, Maagh Shukla 8, when Bheeshm died. I have not calculated birthdates of Pandavas, but I am sure that they were not that much old at the time of war.   ----Prafulla
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kali Yug was to end in 1901 BC but somebody extended years of all Yug by multiplying them by 360. Therefore we are now in a Kail Yug of 4,32,000 years. Shree Raam and Shree Krishn were incarnation of gods. We human beings will have to live in this long Kali Yug.   ----Prafulla
