Sarg 29-Seetaa Further Requests

Weeping Seetaa said to Raam - "Whatever you have said about the difficulties of forest, they will all be my pleasures if your love is there. All animals will go away from your path seeing your beautiful form, because they have never seen such a beauty. When there is the cause of fear then why one should not fear?  Whatever orders are for you, the same are for me too. Therefore I will go with you. And if anyhow I will be separated from you, then consider it the end of my life.

Even Raajaa Indra cannot insult me in front of you. I have been taught that a wife cannot be alive without her husband, I have heard in my father's house also from Braahman that I am destined to live in forest, so from the same moment I was eager to stay in forest.  and when according to them I will have to live in forest, then I will live in forest with you. Now the time has come that those Braahman's words will prove true.

I know that there are many sorrows in forest, but they are only for them who do not have control on their Indriyaan. I won't have any sorrow. I heard the prediction of going to exile in my father's house from a female beggar who had good manners. I am ready to go along with you because it will give me delight.

Even after death I will unite with you, because I have heard this from Braahman: In this world which woman has been given away to whom by parents with water according to moral code that woman belongs to him alone even after death. You must take me who is so much devotee to you that She feels your pleasures and pains alike and shares your joy and sorrows. If you did not take me along then I will definitely die by taking poison or jumping in the fire or water."

In spite of repeated requests of Seetaa Raam did not agree to take Her along with Him, then Seetaa started crying. Raam advised Her to change Her mind in very detail.

Sarg 30-Seetaa Succeeds by Persisting

Seetaa again said - "My father didn't consider you a woman that is why he married me to you. Why are you leaving me here for whom there is no other path. Know me  as dependent on you as Saavitree was on Satyavann, the son of Raajaa Dyumatsen.

O Raam, I am a young girl living with you for a long time, a Satee woman and your wife. How can you leave me to others? It is not proper for you not to take me along going to forest. While I will be walking with you, blades of Kush grass or reeds etc will touch my soles as heaps of cotton or soft deer skin. Dust will make me feel like sandalwood powder; a bed of leaves and grass will be more comfortable than the most comfortable bed in the palace; whatever Kand, roots and fruits you will bring for me, they will be like Amrit for me; I will not remember anybody - mother, father or home, because in whichever Aashram I will live with you, it will be like Swarg for me. But if you will not takeme then I will commit suicide by taking poison. I cannot tolerate this grief even for a moment then how can I live for 14 years?"

When Jaanakee got tired of requesting Raam, She clung to His neck and cried bitterly as if ice was melting from Her eyes, or Gangaa was coming out of Himvaan Parvat. Seetaa got somewhat unconscious.

Seeing this, Raam lifted Her up and hugged Her, and convincing Her said to Her - "I myself do not like even Swarg while you are in grief and I do not have any fear like Brahmaa.  Even though I am able to protect you still I did not consider it proper to take you to forest without knowing your mind. It seems that you are born to go to forest with me, that is why I cannot leave you here, as Gyaanee (learned) people do not leave kindness.

Hey Seetey, Because I have to obey my parents and this I consider my prime Dharm that is why I do not want to live violating my Dharm. There are three people in the world - mother, father and Guru. There is none other like them, hence they are worthy of worship. Who are wholly devoted to their parents get Dev Lok, Gandharv Lok, Brahm lok and Golok. I wish to obey my parents in the same manner.

I was very depressed to take you to forest but since you yourself are saying to go, you may come with me. You have taken a very auspicious decision which is useful for yours race, and to myself. So now begin your duties appropriate for exile. Give valuable gifts to Braahman, food to mendicants (Bhikshuk), be quick and do not delay. Donate all your costly jewelry, beautiful and fine articles of wearing apparel, my couches conveyances etc to your servants."  So Seetaa started distributing Her belongings.
