Ram Kills Khar and Dushan, Raven Goes to Mareech

"You are welcome, I am Ram, son of Dashratha the Awadh's past king,
Please tell about your self, are you a rakshsa, a member of some ring?" 
"Here is Sita my lovely wife and there is sitting my brother Laxman,
We are living in forest for some time, this is all about us, O woman".

Surpankha was glad as she talked to Ram; she did bring a new proposal,
"Ram! I like you much, let us be married soon; leave it at my disposal".
"My name is Surpankha and I am sister of well known mighty Raven,
You care less for Sita, Raven is very powerful, he shook even heaven".

"Sita is not befitting for you, please become my beautiful husband,
I will provide you with every thing; we will rule the heaven and land".
"O Surpankha! I am a married man; please talk to dear brother Laxman,
He is available, beautiful, active, young; is the man for you, O woman!"

Surpankha went to Laxman and said, "Lovely Laxman, O young man!
I am sister of mighty Raven, we will be a fine couple as man-woman".
"I am much beautiful, you are powerful, a king's son and you are alone,
I need your consent, you will enjoy your life much; think gone is gone".

"O beautiful woman! I am a servant of Ram, please go back to Ram,
Ram can do what he likes, he is a king; you will be happy with charm".
Surpankha could not take this joking; she went to lovely Sita and Ram,
Ram was worried to see ferocious face of Surpankha expecting harm.

"O Ram! You do not want to marry me since your wife Sita is there,
I will kill her immediately now and than you will marry me right here".
Surpankha rushed hurriedly devour Sita, Laxman came for protection,
Ram asked Laxman to be swift and save Sita from this provocation.

Laxman cut top of nose and earlobes of Surpankha with his sharp knife,
Surpankha did runaway from Laxman, crying, bleeding to save her life.
Surpankha went to Khar and Dushan at the canton of the rakshsas army,
There were eighteen thousand troupes here, some Raven's forces semi.

After listening to Surpankha, eighteen thousand troupes came to fight,
The sky became clouded with dust; chariots and horses ran with might,
Swords, bows, arrows, tridents, various weapons, ropes, nets and mace,
Three captains, Khar, Dushan, and Trishira were fully prepared in lace.

Ram did see the dusty sky and noise of horses, elephants, chariot roar,
He told Laxman an army is coming to fight; you are not to think more.
Please take dear Sita in a safe place; I will take care of the enemy here,
I see thousand rakshsas along with Surpankha, well laced for war there.

Dear Laxman said "Okay!" and took Sita for safety in a mountain cave
Ram prepared himself with weapons to fight the huge enemy with rave.
The Rakshsas' army came close and started showering arrows on Ram,
Ram took care of every one and told to Khar, Dushan with usual charm.

"You will be punished now for killing, harassing noble, innocent men,
I was waiting for the day, your end is near; it is predicted by ill omen". 
Ram was covered by arrows, tridents, spear and glowing armaments,
He cleared every thing pretty soon, killed enemy by fiery arrangements.

Eighteen thousand were killed in the firetrap created by Ram's arrow,
Surpankha was bewildered with Ram's prowess; was no end of sorrow.
In one day this happened, Raven's army at Jansthan turned in to ashes,
Sita, Laxman came back home, they applied medicine at Ram's rashes. 

One rakshas Akampan could run away from the ferocious fiery fight,  
He went to inform Raven in Lanka about the incident; Ram's might   
Raven could not believe about the devastating news of Khar's demise 
He wanted to fight Ram but Akampan had for Raven special advice.

"Sir! It is impossible to win Ram without torturing his mind, senses,
Better you kidnap his beautiful wife, depress him; then take chances".
"His wife is very beautiful, you should allure her with your magic.
Once Ram loses Sita, he will lose interest in his life, it will be tragic".

Raven went to his uncle Mareech and explained a sinister magic plan,
"Mareech! You become a golden deer, allure Sita, Ram; save the clan,
I shall kidnap Sita when both brothers will be out for hunting the deer,
My chariot will be parked in Dandaka forest where Ram's hut is near".

Mareech was perturbed, he knew Ram's prowess; " I do not like plan,
Oh! Sure you will be killed with your family and entire rakshsas' clan".
"Please go home to Lanka and enjoy with your family, friends in life,
Never try to hurt Ram and will be intelligent to forget about his wife".
