Ram Gaan
(A poem narrating the life of Lord Sri Ram)

Jai Sri Ram! Welcome!

The story of Lord Ram is blissful, a guide to life and protection for all. The very first poet Rishi Valmiki asked to sage Narad, "Who is the most righteous person? I would like to write about him." Narad said, "He is Lord Sri Ram, the perfection in human form."

The divine story of Lord Ram has its own place in the present time, when families are breaking, husband and wife act selfishly, corporate executives cheat their share holders, and frequent litigation has become a way of life. Lord Ram is God himself, but he is always polite, follows discipline, is open to every one, and loves his family, friends and his people. At the same time Bharat, the brother of Ram, is free of greed, anger and ready to sacrifice every thing for the sake of justice. In the story there are several characters. The divine monkey Hanuman shines as gold with his prowess, intelligence, serving attitude and lack of self-interest. The character of Laxman's wife Urmila is unique, where she stays away from her husband for a full fourteen-year period. The story of Lord Ram is a story depicting love, sacrifice, duty and justice in its very best. The author has made a humble effort to bring it to our readers, youth members and respected devotees of Lord, in the title "Ram Gaan" in seven episodes.

My special thanks are for my wife Prabha and my daughter Aloka Patel for their help in this fine endeavor. I wish to offer my respect to all.

"Ram is omniscient, omnipresent in all sentient and insentient,
I pay my homage, since in every one as the soul He is present"

Bhagwan Dass Lahoti
