Rishi got surprised to see the agreement between Raam and Bharat and admired both for their following of truth, bravery and Dharm. Then Rishi told Bharat - "Hey Bharat, You have taken birth in s high family, so obey your elder brother Raam if you want your father should be happy in Swarg. We wish that Raam should not be indebted to His father. Raajaa has already paid his debt to your mother, that is why he has got Swarg." After saying this Maharshi went to their Aashram. Raam admired them. Then Bharat got up and said - "Looking at the care of public, please accept the request of my mother and myself. This is beyond my ability to rule such a huge kingdom. Public is waiting for you to come. You have that power, so you come to Ayodhyaa and rule the kingdom." And Bharat fell on Raam's feet. Raam lifted him up and put him in His laps and said - "Bharat, You are intelligent, you can do it. If there arises any problem, consult Braahman, Purohit, ministers. Lakshmee may leave Chandramaa, Himvaan may move from its place and Saagar (sea) May forget its limitations, but my vow cannot be broken. Because of my exile, do not be sad and do not misbehave with Maa Kaikeyee." Bharat said - "Then your Khadaaoon (wooden slippers) you are wearing, will rule everybody in your absence." Raam gave His Khadaaoon to Bharat happily. Bharat greeted Khadaaoon touched them with his forehead and said to Raam - "I will stay outside the city, eat fruits and flowers and wear Jataa and Tapaswee clothes for 14 years. I will wait for you. If at the end of exile period, I don't see you the first day, I will burn myself in fire." Raam accepted everything Bharat said and hugged him. He hugged Shatrughn also and said - "You have vow on Seetaa that take care of Maa Kaikeyee. She should not feel sad in any way." Raam bade farewell to His brothers crying. Bharat kept those Khadaaoon on the elephant. Raam greeted all mothers and went to His Aashram crying. Sarg 113-Bharat Goes Back to Ayodhyaa Bharat rode his chariot with Shatrughn. His ministers went forward and came to Muni Bharadwaaj's Aashram after crossing Mandaakinee River. Muni asked Bharat - "Was your wish fulfilled?" Bharat said - "Vashishth Jee and I requested Raam to come back to Ayodhyaa, but He said, "I have come here for 14 years by the order of father, therefore I will not go back until this period is over". Hearing this Guru Jee asked His Charan Paadukaa (Khadaaoon or wooden slippers) to give them to me. So by the order of Guru, He gave them to me. Now I am going back to Ayodhyaa carrying them with me. By the order of Raam I had to come back from there." Muni said - "Bharat, It is not a big thing for you, because as fallen water is stored at the bottom, in the same way you are also very good brother. Raajaa Dasharath got freed from his debt today by getting a son like you." Bharat asked Muni's permission to go and started towards Ayodhyaa. Thus after crossing Yamunaa and Gangaa Bharat arrived in Shringverpur and looked at Ayodhyaa with a sad look. Sarg 114-Bharat is Back in Ayodhyaa Soon Bharat came to Ayodhyaa. There was darkness all over. It looked like a looted city. Its one cause was Raam's going to forest. Since He went to forest, nobody wore flower garlands, new clothes. There were no festivals, no celebrations. Bharat said - "Its beauty has gone with Raam, now when He will come back then only it will look beautiful." Crying Bharat entered the palace which was without Dasharath, it was not yet cleaned. Seeing this he cried bitterly. Sarg 115-Bharat Starts Ruling from Nandee Graam Bharat left his mothers in Ayodhyaa and said to Vashishth Jee - "I will stay in Nandee Graam, therefore I want your permission to stay there and I will experience the problems of Raam's absence living there only. Ministers and Vashishth Jee said - "Bharat, Your ideas are of very high standard." Bharat asked Sumantra to bring the chariot, asked permission from his mothers and went to Nandee Graam with Shatrughn, ministers and Purohit Vashishth Jee. In front of Bharat were Vashishth and Braahaman and behind him were his army, chariots, elephants, horses, public without invitation. Bharat arrived in Nandee Graam keeping Raam's Paadukaa (wooden slippers) on his head and said to Vashishth Jee - "Raam has handed over His kingdom to me in trust, and to rule it He has given me His Paadukaa. They are His representative that is why all should trust them and the same will rule. He has given me this responsibility, so it is my duty to protect them. When He will come, I will see Him after putting these Paadukaa in His feet. At that time my responsibility will be over and my black spot will also be cleared." So Bharat started living in Nandee Graam in Muni's guise. He put Paadukaa on a high place, put Chhatra (royal umbrella) and Chanvar over them and started all his activities after telling Paadukaa.
