Sarg 80-Workers Pave the Way

Many workers started working to pave the way in the expectation to see Raam. They constructed paths, bridges on rivers, and flattened the land even. Many places were converted into beautiful places. Small water sources were made larger and bathing places were created there. Wherever the water facilities were not there, they dug wells, constructed ponds and created gardens alongside with them there. A management team was appointed at several points. Where there were many fruits available, a rest house was constructed there for Bharat, lawns of Doob grass were developed there. It looked like Indra Puree.

Sarg 81-Vashishth Calls Bharat

Next morning, the musical instruments started playing to wake up Bharat, but Bharat stopped them from playing saying, "I am not the king, so please do not play them to wake me up". Then he said to Shatrughn - "See, what Kaikeyee's people have done that our father is not alive, and this kingdom is also without Raajaa." saying this Bharat got unconscious. At that time Vashishth Jee came and sat on his gold Aasan. He ordered the messengers to call Braahman, Kshatriya, soldiers, ministers and chiefs etc and to call Bharat, Shatrughn, other Raajpoot, Yudhaajit, Sumantra and Bharat's well wishers also."

As they received this message, everybody got started. Paths were full of horses and chariots. Bharat and Shatrughn also came. Seeing Bharat, public forgot that there was no Raaja of that kingdom.

Sarg 82-Bharat Prepares to Go to Forest

When all took their seats, Vashishth Jee said - "Raajaa Dasharath gave this kingdom, full of wealth and grains, to you before he died. Raam and Seetaa have gone to forest to follow their Dharm, therefore you are the heir of this kingdom. All want that your Abhishek should be performed. You should be the king and take care of the kingdom. Raajaa of all the four directions and traders will present you gifts of gems and jewels.

Bharat got very sad hearing these words and remembered Raam in his heart to know his Dharm in this situation. He started crying and said - "Who has spent His life in following Dharm, Brahmcharya and study, how can I accept His kingdom. How can I snatch other's rights being Raajaa Dashrath's son. Both, this kingdom and I, belong to Raam. Therefore Hey Gurudev, You tell us about Dharm and how Raam will accept this kingdom. Raam is pious like Raajaa Nahush and is my eldest brother. He is more qualitative than me, therefore this kingdom belongs to Him as Raajaa Dasharath got it.

If I sin through low Karm, then I be a black spot on Ikshwaaku Vansh. Whatever sin my mother has committed, I look at it with hatred. I greet Raam from here and I wish to follow Raam. Raam is not only Raajaa of Ayodhyaa, He is the Prajaapati of Trilok."

Bharat further said - "If I was not able to bring Him back then I will also spend my life in forest. I will use all kinds of means to bring Him back in your presence. I have sent some people to search for the way. He then said to Sumantra - "Ask army chiefs to get ready to go immediately and announce this to the whole city." Bharat took his army along to bring back Raam to Ayodhyaa. People were very happy hearing this. Everybody was getting ready as soon as possible. Sumantra managed the people as how they would go on the road.

Sarg 83-Bharat Goes to Forest

Next morning Bharat started in his beautiful chariot. Ministers and Purohit were ahead of Bharat, behind Bharat were 9,000 elephants, 60,000 archers with their weapons and 100,000 horse riders. Kaikeyee, Sumitraa and Kaushalyaa also went to bring Raam back to Ayodhyaa. All people were talking about Raam on the way. All kinds of people who loved Raam - traders, clay pot makers, cloth washer men, weavers, Vaidya (traditional doctors), liquor sellers, tailors, Nat (dancers), sailors, Yogee; were there on their rides. Everybody wore good clothes and red sandalwood paste and all were happy because everybody wanted to see Raam.

Soon they arrived at the bank of Gangaa River near Shringver Pur. Bharat allowed everybody to choose his place to stay and told them to cross it next morning. So they stayed there overnight.
