Stories-Historical; Our Hindu mythological literature, Raamaayan, Mahaabhaarat, Puraan etc, is full of Rishi's stories. There are four words which are used interchangeably for Rishi - Rishi, Maharshi, Raajarshi, and Brahmarshi. Although there is a slight difference between all of these terms, but still we will be using them interchangeably except Raajarshi and Devarshi; because Raajarshi is he who is a king and still lives like a Rishi. There are very few of them, but Raajaa Janak's name is well known among them. And Devarshi is he who s a Devtaa and still he lives like Rishi. There is only one like that and he is Devarshi Naarad.
There are hundreds of
Rishi described in Hindu scriptures, but here only those Rishi are described who
have done something extraordinary in their lives. Some Rishi are very good while
others are known as angry Rishi that even Devtaa are afraid of them and they were
victims of those Rishi's anger.
