13th Avataar in 24 Avataar

Considered an Avataar of Lord Vishnu and the 13th in Naaraayan's Ekavinshati order, Dhanvantari appeared during Ksheer Saagar Manthan, the Pauraanik episode of churning of the Milk Ocean by the gods and demons. He emerged from the waters carrying in his four hands holding conch, wheel, herbs/leech, and a container of nectar. Using Aayur Ved, he restored the health of the Heaven-dwelling Devtaa who were stricken with afflictions because of Sage Durvaasaa's curse. He also helped spread the knowledge of Aayur Ved on Earth.

Ekaadashee and Saturdays are special days for Dhanvantar.
Kaarttik Krishn Trayodashee is his birthday of Lord Dhanvantari.
His Naivedyam (consecrated food) is made of wheat Ravaaa (semolina), sugar, ghee, cow-milk, and nuts/dates - basically "Soojee kaa Halavaa" or "Ravaa kaa Halavaa".
