18-Dharm According to Vaanprasth and Sanyaasee
Read   Aashram   for the meaning of Vaanprasth, Sanyaas etc

Bhagavaan Krishn further said - "If a Grihasth wants to go to Vaanprasth, he may leave his wife with his sons or take her with him and pass the third part of his life in the forest. He should subsist on Kand, Mool (roots), fruits of forest, wear tree bark or deer skin. He should not cut his hair, mustache, beard, nails etc. He should not clean his teeth. Take bath three times a day and sleep on the floor. In summer heat he should tolerate Panchaagni; in rainy season he should tolerate rains and in winter season he should take dip into the water up to the neck. He can roast his Kand Mool in fire, and he can eat ripen fruits according to season. If he wants to crush them he should use mortar and pestle to crush them or crush them on stone or eat by chewing only. Which material should be bought from where and at what time, all these arrangements should be made by himself only. Charu should be prepared by Neevaar etc wild grains and the same should be used to do Vaidik Karm.

In Vaanprasth period, he should not do my Yagya by Ved-prohibited animals. Ved knower have prescribed Agnihotra, Darsh, Paurnmaas, Chaaturmaasya for Vaanprasth also as they are prescribed for Grihasth. When he does Tapasyaa thus, his body's veins are shown. He first goes to Rishi Lok, then he comes to Me, because Tap is My Swaroop only. Who do his kind of Tap for smaller objectives like to get Swarg, Brahm Lok, They are fools.

Hey Uddhav Jee, When a Vaanprasthee is unable to follow his duties, he should meditate upon Me and enter Agni (this is only for those who are not Virakt (unattached). If he has understood that Sa-Kaam Karm makes him available to those Lok only which are equally sorrowful as Narak; and reaches the state of Vairaagya (state of detachment) from Lok and Par-Lok; then he should leave Yagya Agni by proper method and take Sanyaas. And if he wants to be Vaanprasthee Sanyaasee, then he should do eight types of Shraaddh and My Yagya by Praajaapatya method, absorb Yagya Agni in his Praan and then should wander around without having the need of any place, thing or person. When a Braahman takes the Sanyaas, Devtaa disturb him in the form of his relations - wife, son etc because they think that this man is going to Paramaatmaa avoiding us.

If a Sanyaasee wants to wear anything, he should wear only a "Langotee" (underwear), and if not satisfied with that, then wear only that big cloth, which can cover his "Langotee" (loin cloth). Keep only scepter and Kamandal, nothing else. This rule is for ever, except for emergencies. He should put his foot only by seeing the land ahead of him; drink water passed through a cloth; speak only whatever is truth; and whatever action he does, should be done carefully with understanding. Being quiet for speech, being without action for body, and Praanaayaam for mind are the three Dand (rules) for such a person. Who does not have these three Dand (rules) then the scepter in his hand is useless. He is not Dandee Swaamee only by taking scepter in hand.

A Sanyaasee should take the alms from all the four Varn except outcaste and cow-killers. Whatever he gets from seven random houses, he should get satisfied with that. After taking this alms, he should go outside the residential area, there he should wash his hands and feet and make the alms holy with Jal. Then he should offer the share to whomever he should give according to Shaastra method; and then he should eat it quietly whatever remains. Neither he should save for another time, nor he should ask for more. Sanyaasee should roam around alone. He should not have any attachment with any place. His all Indriyaan should be in his control, he should be busy in himself only. Even in emergencies, he should have patience. He should live in a lonely and fearless place. He should go to cities, villages, residential places only for alms. And alms should also be asked mostly from Vaanprasthee's Aashram's prescribed means, because this type of alms destroys attachment soon. No thoughtful Sanyaasee should consider this world as true, rather he should detach himself from any desires he has for this Lok and Par-Lok and never remember them.

A Gyaanee and who does not desire even Moksh, is not even bound to the rules of Aashram. If he wants he can leave Aashram and their symbols. He can play like a child in spite of being intelligent. He can behave like a fool in spite of being knowledgeable, and behave like animals in spite of knowing all Ved methods. He should not argue on Karm Kaand of Ved, should not be Paakhandee, and should not favor anybody where any kind of arguments are going on. He should be so much patient that neither he should makes anybody else angry, nor he himself should get angry at anytime. A Sanyaasee should not quarrel with anybody for this body - only animals do that.

A Sanyaasee should never be sad if he doesn't get food in time, nor he should be happy if he gets it regularly, because both, getting or not getting food, are matter of luck. But one should go for alms, because it protects one's life, and when there is life, one can think about Tattwa, and by thinking about Tattwa one attains Tattwa Gyaan and then Moksh.

Hey Uddhav, [this was about Gyaanee, now you listen to about Vairaagee] Who has controlled his Indriyaan, when he knows that there are only sorrows in this world, then only he should take Vairaagya and if he does not know the means to attain Me, he should go to a Guru. He should be a devotee of Guru. He should not pick any mistakes in Guru until he earns Brahm Gyaan. But if somebody has not controlled his five Indriyaan and one mind and he lives like a Sanyaasee then he is defaming that Aashram and deceiving his Devtaa, himself and Me. He has assumed only Sanyaasee's guise, he is not a real Sanyaasee. Sanyaasee's main Dharm is peace and Ahinsaa; and Vaanprasthee's main Dharm is Tap and to remember Bhagavaan. Grihasthee's main Dharm is to protect living beings and Yagya and Brahmchaaree's main Dharm is to serve Aachaarya (Guru)."
