Raam Setu, bridge built by Raam to cross the sea to reach Lankaa, has always been controversial to people. Here are given some references where it is either mentioned or described. (1) Of course Vaalmeeki Raamaayan is one place, which has emphatic and graphic references to the construction of Setu Bandhan in 85 Shlok in a separate Sarg in Yuddh Kaand. (2) Another one is Tulasee's Maans. There also Tulasee gives an elaborated description of building the bridge. (2) Mahaabhaarat also refers to the continued protection of Nal Setu following the command of Shree Raam. (3) Kaali Daas too in his Raghuvansh extols the glory and grandeur of Shree Raam. (4) Skand Puraan (6.101.1-44) describes the installation of three Shiv Ling at the end, middle and beginning of Raam Setu and submerging the same bridge under waters of the ocean and thereby creating Setu Teerth. (5) The construction of Raam Setu is also described in Koorm Puraan (21.10-61), Vishnu Puraan (4.4.40-49), Agni Puraan (V-XI) and Brahm Puraan (138.1-40). Garud Puraan (1.81.1-22) lists the sacred places including Setubandh and Raameshwar. (6) Naarad Puraan (Uttar Bhaag, 76.1-20) goes into raptures on the immortal greatness of Raam Setu. (7) There is a Kaavya in Praakrit language by King Pravarashen II (550-600 BC) called "Setu Bandh or Raavanaavaho". (8) "Dashmuha Vadh" (Setubandh Kaavya), another poetry book, was written by the King Daamodar Sen in 5th Century AD.
