Sarg 89-Lakshman-Meghnaad Fight Continues

Then Vibheeshan took his bow and showered arrows on Raakshas army. He started killing Raakshas. Vibheeshan's ministers were also fighting with their Shool and Pattish. Vibheeshan encouraged monkeys saying - "Now he is the only person remained from Raavan's family. If you had killed him then consider his all army dead. Prahast, Nikumbh, Kumbhkarn, Dhoomraaksh, Jaambmaalee, Mahaamaalee, Suptashn, Yagyakop, Vajradanshtra, Sanhlaadee, Vikat, Arighn, Tapan, Mayand, Praghaas, Prajangh, Jangh, Agniketu, Durdharsh, Veeryavaan, Rashmiketu, Vidyujivhaa, Dwijivhaa, Atibalee - you have killed such mighty Raakshas.

Soorya-Putra Shatra, Akampan, Supaarshwa, Chakramaalee, Kampan, Devaantak, Naraantak - you killed all of them. You crossed the sea. Now remains only Meghnaad. Although it is not proper to kill my own brother's son but still I want to kill him for Raam. Whenever I want to kill him, my eyes fill with tears. Lakshman will pacify my tears. So kill all Raakshas." Vaanar got very happy to hear all this and they started killing Raakshas army.

Raakshas attacked Jaambvaan. A fierce fight took place between Vaanar and Raakshas. Hanumaan put Lakshman down [Lakshman was riding on Hanumaan's back] and ran towards Raakshas with a huge rock. Meghnaad fought first with his uncle Vibheeshan, then he came to Lakshman. Both fought again cleverly. Nobody could see them who picked his arrows when, when they shook their bows, when they pulled the string of their bows, when they released the string, when they set their foot to aim it.

Evening fell, darkness covered the earth. Meat-eating animals started roaring. Wind stopped blowing, fire stopped blazing. Maharshi said - "Bless the world." Gandharv came there along with Chaaran. Lakshman shot four arrows at Meghnaad's four horses who were adorned with gold jewelry. Then he shot Bhall named arrow to Saarathee. This arrow was adorned with gold, had shiny wings and was like Vajra. It separated Saarathee's head from his body.

After Saarathee had died, Meghnaad himself drove the chariot and he picked the bow also. This scene was very spectacular. When Meghnaad drove chariot, Lakshman shot arrows at Meghnaad. Meghnaad tried to use his weapons, Lakshman shot arrows at his horses.

Who used to wander in the battlefield fearlessly, today he was worried by Lakshman's arrows. He was not able to do anything without his Saarathee so he dropped the idea of fighting. Now four monkeys - Pramaathee, Rasabh, Sharabh and Gandhmaadan - got ready to fight with Meghnaad because they didn't like Meghnaad at all. These four monkeys attacked Meghnaad's four horses. Because of the weight of these huge monkeys, horses spitted blood and they immediately broke the different parts of horses' body. They broke the chariot also and came back to Lakshman. Meghnaad got down from his chariot and started fighting on foot. Lakshman pierced him with his arrows.

Sarg 90-Lakshman Kills Meghnaad

Fight again started. Meghnaad said to his army - "It is dark now. Fighting with monkeys is confusing them utterly. I come back soon riding my chariot. You hold them here so that they cannot disturb me while I am in the city." Thus Meghnaad went to the city deceiving monkeys. There he took a beautiful chariot whose Saarathee was also very intelligent. He came back to the battlefield. Lakshman, Vibheeshan and all monkeys admired Meghnaad's smartness.

Now Meghnaad shot many arrows at many monkeys. Monkeys came to Lakshman for their safety. Lakshman shot an arrow and broke the string of Meghnaad's bow and shot five arrows at his chest. He spitted blood from his mouth, but still he took out another bow whose string was very strong. He showered many arrows on Lakshman which Lakshman stopped on the way.

Lakshman shot arrows so fast that He shot 3 arrows each at Raakshas. Lakshman pierced Saarathee's head with His Bhall named arrow. After Saarathee died, Meghnaad's horses still continued to pull chariot forward, but after a while they just circled. Lakshman got very angry and He killed his horses. Meghnaad could not tolerate this and he shot 10 arrows at Lakshman. They got quiet as they reached near Lakshman. Meghnaad thought that Lakshman's armor could not be pierced, so he shot three winged arrows. Later Meghnaad shot three arrows at Vibheeshan's mouth. He continued to use his various weapons. He released Power on his uncle which Lakshman cut in 10 pieces.

After that Meghnaad used a weapon given by Yam Raaj at Vibheeshan. Seeing this Lakshman shot an arrow given by Kuber in dream and was infallible by all Devtaa and Asur. Both arrows shone in the sky and crashed together. Both went out of their mind seeing their weapons failed. Then Lakshman used Varunaastra which Meghnaad failed; Meghnaad used Aagneyaastra which Lakshman stopped with His Sauryaastra. Seeing this Meghnaad got unconscious with fury. then he took Aasur arrow which started spitting many other weapons like Gadaa, swords, Gadaa, Paras, Shool etc Then Lakshman took more powerful weapon named Maaheshwar and stopped his Aasur weapon. Both weapons fought each other very fiercely. All Rishi, Pitar, Devtaa came to protect Lakshman under the leadership of Indra.

This time Lakshman took another powerful Indra's Astra (weapon) and spoke while aiming it - "If Dasharath-Putra Raam is the follower of Dharm and truthful, then you kill Meghnaad." and read Indra's Mantra also and released it. It certainly cut Meghnaad's head from his body. All Raakshas ran away from there. All got very happy at the killing of Meghnaad.
