Sarg 74-Dasharath Returns From Mithilaa

Next day morning, Vishwaamitra Jee returned to his Aashram. Dasharath also asked permission to go to Ayodhyaa. Raajaa Janak gave them hundreds of cows and gems and bade them farewell. When Raajaa Dasharath was on his way to Ayodhyaa, several inauspicious birds sang, and several good omens occurred. Dasharath Jee asked Vashishth Jee the interpretation of all this - "What is the meaning of these signs. Please clear my doubts. I am very sad hearing and seeing all this." Vashishth Jee said - "Among them one is good, one is bad. It seems that there must some trouble but will be over soon. So don't be sad."

Suddenly a storm came and trees fell. Dasharath's whole army was covered under that storm. Nobody could see one another. At the same time Dasharath saw Rishi Jamdagni's son Parashuraam Jee coming towards them. He was gracious like fire. Dasharath greeted him and he spoke to Raam.

Sarg 75-Parashuraam Jee Invites Raam to Fight With Him

"I have heard everything about your breaking the bow, that is why I have brought this huge bow to you. Now you should aim with this one and I will fight with you." Dasharath Jee said to him politely - "Hey Muni, Please spare the life of my sons, because you have abandoned killing Kshatriya and now live on Mahendra Parvat after donating the Prithvi to Kashyap Jee. Why are you angry to destroy me? Because if Raam were killed then nobody among us will remain alive."

Parashuraam didn't pay any attention to Dashrath's words and spoke to Raam again - "Whichever two bows Vishwaamitra Jee built with great labor, one of them you have destroyed - that was Shiv's bow. But this second bow's string cannot be pulled by anybody. This is Vaishnav bow which kills enemies. Vishnu got it from Devtaa and this is like Shiv's bow. Vishnu gave this bow to Richeek Muni (Bhrigu Vanshee) to keep it. He gave it to [his son] my father Maharshi Jamdagni Jee. When my father left all weapons and got busy in Tapasyaa then Kaart-Veerya Arjun (Sahastrabaahu) killed him [while he was busy doing Yagya].

Hearing the killing of my faultless father in this way, I killed Kshatriya many times [21 times] and won the whole Prithvi. Then I donated this Prithvi to Maharshi Kashyap and went to do Tap. But hearing the sound of breakage of Shiv's bow I quickly came down here. Therefore if you are able to pull its string then I will fight with you."

Sarg 76-Raam Settles With Parashuraam Jee

Raam heard everything Parashuraam Jee said, then said to him - "Whatever you did because of your father's killing, I heard that attentively. I praise you for all that. But Hey Parashuraam Jee, You are insulting me  being Kshatriya and weak, so test my bravery and might." Then Raam pulled the string of Jamdagnikaa named bow and said to Parashuraam Jee - "You are Braahman, thus you are respectable to us and you are the nephew (sister's son) of Guru Vishwaamitra Jee in relation. But this is my intent that I destroy your power of walking to any Lok got by Tapasyaa. Tell me what do you think about it? This arrow is divine and destroys all pride."

When Parashuraam Jee saw the arrow he got frightened and his all bravery disappeared as if Raam had taken all his grace. He said to Raam - "Hey Raam, When I donated this Prithvi to Kashyap Jee he made me promise that I will not live in your kingdom, therefore to keep my words, I do not sleep on the ground. Therefore Hey Raam, you may destroy my power of walking, because I have to go to Mahendra Parvat. I have known you from the way of your using the bow and this arrow that you are the Swaamee of Devtaa. When this arrow will be out I will be able to reach on Mahendra Parvat." So Raam shot the arrow by which all Lok, won by Parashuraam, were destroyed, ways got cleared and Parashuraam Jee went to Mahendra Parvat.

Sarg 77-Dasharath is Back in Ayodhyaa

Raam got pacified after Parashuraam Jee had left. Then He bowed Vashishth Jee and told His father that Parashuraam Jee had gone. Raajaa Dasharath got very happy to hear this and started towards Ayodhyaa.

When people of Ayodhyaa heard about Raajaa's coming back to the city, they decorated the city beautifully and went outside the city to welcome him with beautiful things as gifts. Raajaa Dasharath entered the city with his four sons and then entered the palace. As they climbed down from their chariots, Kaushalyaa, Sumitraa and Kaikeyee etc queens welcomed their daughters-in-law. Daughters-in-law also greeted their elders and respected them. All lived happily thereafter.

Dasharath said to Bharat - "Your Maamaa is staying to take you home, because your grandfather (Naanaa) wants to see you, so you may go with him." So Bharat Jee went to Kaikaya Desh with his Maamaa and took Shatrughn also with him. Raam and Lakshman started serving their father and sharing the work load of the kingdom. Raam was very good-natured, soft spoken and well-behaved man. All people were very happy with Him.
