Taiteereeya

Taiteerya was first taught by Vaishampaayan Jee to 27 pupils. Among those 27 pupils one was Yaagyavalkya Jee. Subsequently Vaishampaayan Jee being offended by Yaagyavalkya Jee, made him disgorge the Ved which he did in tangible form. Whereupon the other disciple of Vaishampaayan Jee picked it up, took in the form of partridges and swallowed the soiled texts, hence got named black (Krishn Yajur Ved) - the other name of Taitireeya. 

Yaagyavalkya Jee then received a new or white version of Yajur Ved called "Shukla Yajurved" from Soorya Dev.
