16-Did Lakshman Sleep in Exile? |
There is a controversy about this issue also that did Lakshman sleep in exile or not? Lakshman came with Raam to guard them and to protect them. Many people believe that Lakshman always guarded Raam and Seetaa every whole night - means he never slept, but it is not so Vaalmeeki Raamaayan clearly says that Lakshman did sleep in exile. He was not constantly guarding Raam and Seetaa all the 24 hours of the day. There are several places where Raam wakes up Lakshman in the morning.
[V-Raamaayan, 2/24/56] In Maanas - it has been taken care of that all behave properly with each other. In Baal Kaand, Doha No 226 and 4 Chaupaayee before that, show that first Vishwaamitra Jee slept, then Raam and in the last Lakshman slept. In the same way Lakshman woke up first, then Raam and then Vishwaamitra Jee woke up.
