Sarg 36-Raavan Scolds Maalyavaan

Raavan shouted at Maalyavaan angrily - "Whatever you are saying is with the desire of good for enemy, it does not reach my ears. How do you consider Raam mighty? He has been exiled by his father, and now He depends on monkeys. I am sure that whatever you have said to me is because either you are jealous of me, or you are in favor of my enemies. Or are you instigating me [o fight]? Why should I give Seetaa back after abducting Her? You will see that I will kill Raam along with Lakshman and Sugreev in a few days time. Even the great Devtaa do not dare to fight with whoever, then why Raavan should be scared to fight with Him? I may be cut into two pieces, but I cannot surrender to anyone. This is my nature. If Raam has built the bridge over the sea, then so what? Why are you so much afraid of Him? I promise that Raam will not go alive from here, once He has come here." Maalyavaan knew that Raavan was angry, so he didn't reply anything. He just blessed Raavan and went home with his permission.

Raavan made the arrangements for Lankaa's security. He appointed Prahast at east gate, and Shuk and Saaran at north gate, and Indrajeet along with many Raakshas at west gate. He said to his ministers that he would also come there. Viroopaaksh named Raakshas was appointed to guard the city. then he instructed them with more ways for security and went to his palace.

Sarg 37-Vibheeshan Tells About the Organization of Raavan's Army

King of human beings Raam, Vaanar king Sugreev, Vaayu's son Hanumaan, king of bears Jaambvaan, Raakshas Raaj  Vibheeshan, Baali's son Angad, Lakshman, Sharabh Vaanar, Sushen, Mayand, Dwivid, Gav, Gavaaksh, Kumud, Nal and Panas; all gathered in Lankaa and said - "So this is the Lankaa which was not won even by Asur, snakes, Gandharv, Devtaa; and Raavan always lives in the same Lankaa. So now we should think over as how to succeed in our aim.

Vibheeshan said - "My ministers Anal, Panas, Sampaati and Pramati went to Lankaa and are back from there. They went there in the form of bird and saw the arrangements of their army. According to them, Prahast is guarding east gate; Mahaapaarshwa and Mahodar are guarding south gate; Indrajeet with his great army and various weapons is guarding west gate. Raavan himself is guarding north gate with fear. Viroopaaksh is guarding the city situated in the middle of the city. 10,000 elephants, 10,000 chariots, 20,000 horses; 100,000 plus Raakshas are there. Here thousands of Raakshas get ready to backup one Raakshas."

He further said to Raam - "When Raavan was fighting with Kuber, at that time 6 million (60 Lacs) Raakshas, proud of their bravery and might were with him. You should not be angry with this, because by telling you this, neither I intend to make you angry, nor I am frightening you. When you can defeat Devtaa, then what is Raavan? And what is his army?"

Raam said - "Neel will go with his army to fight with Prahast at the east gate. Baali's son Angad will go to fight with Mahaapaarshwa and Mahodar at the south gate. Hanumaan will go to west gate. And I myself will go to fight with Raavan at the north gate. I will go with Lakshman. Monkeys should not take human form in the war, this is my order to all the monkeys. They will fight in the monkey form, and we will fight in the human form. We will be seven in human form;  five - Vibheeshan and his four ministers; and two of us - Lakshman and myself."

After instructing thus Raam expressed His desire to see Suvail Parvat. It looked beautiful.
