Sarg 23-Raam Plans for Attack

Raam hugged Lakshman and said - "Now we should make the arrangement of their stay according to cool waters and fruit trees. They should be divided intelligently. I can see destruction coming to the world. It is going to kill both monkeys and Raakshas. A storm is to come. Peaks are shaking. Evening looks horrible. Animals and birds are weeping in front of Soorya. Birds are unable to fly and falling down. We will attack Raavan's Lankaa today only.

Sarg 24-Raam Organizes His Army

Raam's army was looking beautiful. At that time they heard the sound of trumpet etc instruments in Lankaa. Army chiefs of Raam's army got very happy to hear that, while Raam got very sad looking at Lankaa. he thought - "Raavan has held Her (Seetaa) there only, like Mangal Graha (Mars Planet) holds back Rohinee Nakshatra (Constellation). Then He said to Lakshman - "Look at this high-rising Lankaa, built by Vishwakarmaa. It looks like Vishnu's foot mark covered by white clouds. it is full of seven-storied houses. Birds are singing, trees are  blooming. then Raam further said to Lakshman to divide his army according to Shaastra. Tell Angad to take care of the whole army with Neel. Extract a small army from the large army and tell Rishabh that he should be on right hand side with the army. Gandhmaadan should be on left side. And I will be taking care of army with Lakshman. Jaambvaan, Sushen and Vemdarshee should protect the army from middle and Sugreev should protect army's lower part.

Monkeys started bringing large trees and rocks to fight. Raam said to Sugreev - "Now we have organized our army, you may free Shuk. Sugreev released him and he came back to Raavan frightened. Raavan asked Shuk - "Where are your white wings? I can see that your wings have been cut. Is it not that you were arrested by monkeys?" 

Shuk was afraid of Raavan too, so he said softly - "I delivered the message word by word on the north coast of the sea as you asked me to deliver. But the angry monkeys caught me and beat me up with their hands and fists. They are not even worth speaking, no question of talking to them. They are angry by nature. Raam who killed Viraadh, Khar, Kabandh, has arrived here with Sugreev to find Seetaa. He is here considering these Raakshas nothing, by building bridge over the sea and crossing it. Vaanar are many in number. Raakshas and Vaanar cannot be friends as Raakshas and Devtaa cannot be friends. You must decide between fight and return of Seetaa to Raam before they come close to Lankaa's boundary wall."

Raavan got furious hearing Shuk's words, his eyes got red. He said - "I cannot return Seetaa even if all Devtaa, Gandharv, Daanav come to fight with me. Oh, When my arrows will fly over Raam like bumble bees fly over flowers? When will I burn Raam with my arrows. Raam doesn't know my powers that is why He wants to have fight with me. He has not seen my poisonous arrows, that is why He dares to fight with me. Even thousand-eyed Indra, Varun, Yam, and Kuber cannot defeat me.

Sarg 25-Raavan Sends Secret Agents Again

When Dasharath's son Raam had crossed the sea with His army, Shuk told everything to Raavan. Raavan said to Shuk and Saaran - "So those monkeys have crossed the sea and Raam built the bridge but still I want to know the number of the monkeys. So now you both go and find out about their number, their powers, chief monkeys, counselors to Raam, coworkers of Sugreev, leaders of army, method of building bridge, organization of army, Raam and Lakshman's powers and weapons, their army chiefs and come back soon."

Shuk and Saaran again went there and entered Raam's army taking the form of monkey. But even both couldn't count the monkeys, because some were on mountain, some were near waterfalls, some were hiding in caves, some were still crossing the sea, some had already crossed the sea, and some still had to cross it.

Vibheeshan recognized them as Raakshas, caught them and took them to Raam and said - "These are Shuk and Saaran - Raavan's ministers. They have come here as his secret agents." Seeing Raam they got worried about their life and said to Raam - "Hey Raghu Nandan, We both have come here to find out about your army. Raavan has sent us." 

Raam smiled and said - "If you have seen our army and found out about our skills, and obeyed Raavan's orders, then you may go now. Or if something still remains, you may see it again, Vibheeshan can help you. You should not be scared to death because of being caught; because a messenger, whether he is armless or with arms, is always safe (not to be killed). Vibheeshan, Free these secret agents. And you go and tell Kuber's younger brother Raavan that on the basis of whatever strength he has abducted my Seetaa, now is the time to show that strength. Tomorrow morning, I will destroy Lankaa's boundary wall, gates and the whole Raakshas army."

Shuk and Saaran said - "Victory to Raam" and came back to Raavan. They said to Raavan - "Hey Raavan, Vibheeshan kept us held for killing, but kind Raam freed us. Wherever Raam, Lakshman, Vibheeshan and Sugreev are there, they will destroy the whole Lankaa along with its boundary wall and gates. Leave all monkeys at one side. Whatever form and weapons we saw of Raam, we guess that He alone can destroy the whole Lankaa. Even all Devtaa and Daitya cannot destroy that monkey army guarded by Raam, Lakshman and Sugreev. All monkeys are happy and ready to fight, that is why you should not oppose them. Make them friends and return Seetaa to them."
