Ayodhyaa people passed that night crying. All ministers etc gathered in the court next morning, because after the death of a Raajaa it was necessary to do Raaj Tilak. To solve this problem, Maarkandeya, Mudgal, Vaamdev, Kashyap, Kaatyaayan, Gautam and Jaavaali Rishi expressed their views, but couldn't reach on a solution. Then Guru Vashishth said - "Raajaa has died in separation of his son, and this night also seemed like 100 years long. So Mahaaraaj is dead, Raam is in forest, Lakshman is in Raam's service; and Bharat and Shatrughn are at their Naanaa's place. Somebody should be appointed as king today only, because throne should not remain empty. Where there is no king, there is no rainfall, no seed sowing, sons don't obey their fathers and women don't obey their husbands. This is very frightful situation. There are many other things which cannot happen in a kingless country. Panchaayat (local governments) cannot make judgment, people cannot plant gardens, Braahman cannot do Yagya, dances cannot be performed, meetings for development cannot be held, Kathaa cannot be told and heard, maidens cannot wear jewelry, rich people are not protected and people cannot sleep with their doors open. Lusty men cannot go to forest with women, archery cannot be practiced, wrestlers cannot be challenged, and Vaishya cannot trade freely because many hurdles can disturb them. Raajaa is Dharm, Raajaa is Karm, Raajaa is parents, and Raajaa is the protector of people." Hearing this all courtiers then asked Vashishth Jee to appoint a Raajaa. Sarg 68-Messengers Are Sent to Call Bharat Vashishth Jee said - "Raajaa gave his kingdom to Bharat, so we should call him from his Maamaa's house and crown him as king. Messengers should be sent to bring him." All agreed at this. Vashishth Jee asked Siddhaarth, Vijaya, Jayant and Ashok Nandan to go and tell Bharat for him that "Purohit has said his own welfare and has called you soon. There is some important work.", not to tell him that Raajaa has died and Raam is in the forest with Lakshman and Seetaa etc and to take some silken clothes for Kaikaya king and Bharat. The messengers immediately rode their horses and started for Kaikaya Desh. They went on the bank of Maalinee River, crossed Gangaa River through Hastinaapur, went to west, crossing Paanchaal Desh, arrived in Kuru Jaangal Desh. Crossing many ponds, rivers they arrived in Kaikaya Desh. Then they came to Tejobhi Bhavan named palace and then came to Abhikaal Graam. Then they crossed Ikshumatee River (grandfather of father of Ikshwaaku Vansh river) and came to Sudaamaa named Parvat. Then they arrived in Girivrij city. Their horses were tired, but still they came to Raaj Grih city on the same night. Sarg 69-Bharat Dreams As messengers from Ayodhyaa entered the city, Bharat dreamed inauspicious dreams. His friends tried to make him happy but he was not getting consoled in any way. Then one of his friends asked - "You are not happy even among friends?" Bharat said - "The reality is this that I saw my father in the dream. I saw him very sad, and he fell down from a peak into a pond of cow dung and I saw him floating in it. He was drinking oil and laughed repeatedly. He took the food of sesame seeds and rice. It seemed that oil was rubbed on his body. Then I saw that all oceans are without water. Moon has fallen on the ground, darkness is all around, people are frightened from Raakshas. I saw that the tusks of father's elephant are broken into pieces. Earth is ripped off, fire is put off, trees are faded away. My father is sitting on an iron bed with black clothes on and black women are beating him. He is going to south riding on a vehicle drawn by donkeys, wearing garland and applying sandalwood paste [on his body]. Hey friend, My dream cannot be wrong so one of us will die and that is why I am very sad. My throat is dry, I cannot speak freely, I am frightened but see no reason to be frightened. I try to think repeatedly but I am not able to understand anything, but I feel that I will not be able to see father." Sarg 70-Bharat Starts for Ayodhyaa When Bharat was talking like this with his friends, messengers from Ayodhyaa came and greeted Raajaa. Bharat greeted them. They said - "Guru Vashishth and ministers have sent you their blessings and called you soon. Give these jewelry to your Maamaa." Bharat gave that jewelry to his Maamaa and asked Ayodhyaa's welfare - "My father is all right? Raam, Lakshman are healthy? And Maa Kaushalyaa is all right? Lakshman and Shatrughn's Maa, my middle mother are also all right? My selfish and so-called intelligent mother Kaikeyee is healthy?" Thus Bharat asked about everybody because of his bad dream. But as Vashishth Jee instructed, messengers hid everything else saying "everything was all right". Bharat went to Kaikaya Raaj to take permission to go to Ayodhyaa. He blessed him and bade farewell giving them many elephants, horses and lots of wealth. Bharat was in hurry to go that is why he did not get happy with all this material. He met with everybody and started for Ayodhyaa in chariot.
