Shraddhaa or Faith

Raam Kathaa is being told at three places.

First, Yaagyavalkya Muni Jee is telling this Kathaa to Bharadwaaj Muni at Prayaag after the holy bath of Maagh Maas. Muni used to do their discourses under a tree.

Second, Shankar Jee is telling this Kathaa to Paarvatee Jee sitting under a Banyan tree. It is when His first wife Satee had left Her body in Her father's Yagyashaalaa and married to Shiv Jee taking birth as Paarvatee (daughter of Himvaan and Mayanaa). Satee remembers her previous life and wishes to hear Raam Kathaa.

Third, Kaagbhushundi Jee is telling this Kathaa to Garud Jee. When Garud Jee got confused seeing Shree Raam tied with snakes and he had to untie Him by eating those snakes, he became very proud of himself that Raam could not be brought to life if he had not eaten the snakes. So he goes to Shiv Jee and tells this to him. Shiv Jee advises him to listen to Raam Kathaa at Kaagbhushundi Jee's place to clear his doubts. This was also told under a tree.

At all these places the tree is a common place to tell Kathaa. Why? The tree represents faith under which people (audience) develop and maintain Shraddhaa in the speaker to listen to the discourse. Unless this faith is there, Kathaa doesn't have its effect.

Tulasee Daas Jee also says - "Who do not have power of Shraddhaa, company of saints and who do not love Shree Raam, Raam Charit Maanas is very difficult for them."
