Sahastrabaahu

Sahastrabaahu was the King of Maahishmatee Puree, who killed Maharshi Parashuraam's father Maharshi Jamdagni Jee and to take the revenge of his father's killing Parashuraam Jee fought with him bravely and created five ponds from their blood. His real name was Kaartveerya Arjun, because he was the son of Kritveerya.  Later because of his thousand arms he was called Sahasbaahu, or Sahastrabaahu, or Sahastrabaahu Arjun.

Sahastrabaahu was very mighty. He had 1,000 arms and he became very proud after getting them in Var from Shiv Jee. He asked for one Var more that Shiv Jee will always protect his city.

Once Sahastrabaahu was playing around in Narmadaa river with his wives. He spread his thousand arms and created a dam type for his entertainment. At the lower side of the river, at some distance Raavan was also taking bath in the same river. By creating the dam, water of the river got stopped and Raavan could not take bath properly. Raavan was also very proud of his might. So when he found Sahastrabaahu doing this, he got angry and quarreled with him. At this Sahastrabaahu caught him and took him to his city. There he handed over him to his children. and his children tied him in their stable. He stayed there for several days. Then Maharshi Pulastya came to get him free.
