18 in MBH

The number 18 figure is very prominent in the Mahaabhaarat.

(1) The MBH text has 18 chapters.

(2) The battle lasts for 18 days,

(3) There were 18 conch shells blown before the battle.

(4) In MBH war and 18 Akshauhinee army was involved (11 on the side of the Kaurav and 7 on the side of the Paandav).

(5) Even Geetaa has 18 chapters.

(6) There are only 17 names of Vyooh used in MBH. Logically there should be 18 Vyooh or formation in the list. Perhaps the commencement of the dialog in the first chapter between two armies can be taken as one Vyooh.
