 Hanumaan Forgot

    While dealing with the
personality of the great Hanumaan, his forgetfulness has also to be
mentioned. For example, the following may be mentioned.

    1. He forgot that Matang
Muni's Aashram was a sanctuary and was secured from Baali and Vaanar.
(Even the others - Sugreev, Jaambavaan etc did not remind him when they were
running here and there to save themselves from Baali, that they could live
    on Rishyamook Parvat).

    2. He forgot that Sugreev had
done his duty and that he himself knew about it earlier.
(When Lakshman was angry - was it only to appease Lakshman who was extremely
    angry).

    3. He forgot that Raam had
promised to Sugreev to bestow Baali's kingdom on him and suggested Angad's
accession to the throne to Taaraa.
(Was it in repentance on the slaying of Baali?)

    4. He forgot the description
of the herbs which had to fetch to revive Lakshman.
    (He had seen it earlier).

    5. He forgot to return to Raam from Nandee Graam
(to report on the attitude of Bharat - was it because of the excessive hospitality
    shown by Bharat?).

    6. He forgot to narrate to Bharat about the fire ordeal.
(Was it because of the horrifying feelings he had on the fire ordeal?) etc.

These however, do not reduce the greatness of his personality.

Lord Hanuman is Real: Implications for Kali Yug

It can be shown that nearly
the exact distance of Sun from Earth is mentioned in Hanuman Chalisa
    (

    http://scientifichistory.blogspot.in/2013/04/distance-of-sun-from-earth-calculated.HTML
). This fact, which shall also be proved in the following post, has two
further implications. First, it proves indirectly that Hanumaan is a real
entity. Second, it increases the credibility of Sri Yukteswar Girji's
calculations of the time of Yug.

Distance Between the Earth and the Sun

The Hanuman Chalisa says: Jug sahastra yojan par bhaanu, leelyo taahi madhur
    phal jaanu
This means: The Sun is at Yug, Sahastra, Yojan. You have taken it thinking
it to be a sweet fruit.

We know that each Yug is of
different length. It is said that according to the Laws of Manu, the total
    length of all the four Yug is 12,000 years (4800 + 3600 + 2400 + 1200 =
12,000). This is in line with the calculations of the length of Yug by Sri
    Yukteshwar Girji in his Holy
Science, which is very different from the very large numbers in the Puraan.

Thus, we take the length of "Yug"
in Hanuman Chaaleesaa as 12,000 years.
    Sahastra equals a thousand.
Yojan is often said to be about 8 miles, although some views differ.
Bhakti Vedaant Swami Prabhupada is believed to have consistently put the
figure to be 8 miles in his Srimad Bhaagvat. For this reason, we take a
Yojan to be equal to 8 miles. Thus, Yug x Sahastra x Yojan equals: 12,000 x
    1,000 x 8 miles = 96,000,000 miles. Since one mile equals 1.6 kilometers,
this makes the distance of the Sun from earth as: 153,600,000 kilometers (96
    million miles x 1.6 = 153.6 million Kilometers).

    The Earth's orbit round the
Sun is elliptical. The maximum distance between the two is estimated by

modern science to be: 152,100,000 Kilometers.  Thus the difference
between the distance of Earth from the Sun according to Hanumaan Chaaleesaa
and modern science is 1.5 million Kilometers, which is less than 1 percent
of the actual distance. In other words, the distance given by Hanumaan
Chaaleesaa is nearly equal to the actual distance between the Earth and the
Sun according to modern science. The gap between the two estimates may
further be reduced, if we allow for the fact that one Yojan is approximately
8 miles, not exactly 8 miles.

Reality of Hanumaan - the Argument

    The weakest inference that can
be drawn from the above facts is that the
distance between the Earth and the Sun was somehow known to Tulasee Daas Jee
(1532-1623 AD). How did he come to know of this? We have not heard of such
an exact measurement in other Sanskrit literature. The only possible
inference is that this was made known to him through his Antar-drishti
(insight) as he was a famous Yogee and mystic as well. That the Antar-drishti
would reveal the exact real distance of the Sun to the Earth also implies that
the same Antar-drishti was also describing a real entity - ie. Hanumaan.

    The Antar-drishti could not
have been right about the distance of the Earth from the Sun, and wrong
about the divine Lord. Indeed, it is believed by the Hindu that Tulasee Daas
had mystic communion with Hanumaan, who led him to have Darshan of Raam.

    Thus, the exactitude of the
distance between the Earth and the Sun, shown by the phrase: Yug Sahastra
Yojan... also provides indirect testimony to the reality of existence of
Hanumaan. The exactitude of the measurement also has another implication for
    Kali Yug.

Implications for Kali Yug

It may be noticed that the measurement made above critically hinge on the
size of the Yug which is said to be based on the Laws of Manu, and also the
calculations of Sri Yukteswar Girji in his Holy Science. Since they seem to
be confirmed by modern science, the credibility of Sri Yukteshwar Girji's
calculations of the length of individual Yug is increased. He puts the
length of Sat Yug at 4,800 years, Tretaa Yug at 3,600 years, Dwaapar Yug at
2,400 years and Kali Yug at 1,200 years. The most important point made in
his calculations is the claim that the Kali Yug has ended, and that we are
now on a reverse cycle from Kali Yug back to Dwaapar, Tretaa and to Sat Yug.

Although it is conflicting to express any view about these matters, the fact
that his estimate of the length of Yug seems to be confirmed by the distance
between the Earth and the Sun given by Hanumaan Chaaleesaa and the actual
distance given by modern science, makes Yukteshwar Girji's other contentions
    worthy of investigation.

    Sri Yukteshwar Girji was the
holy master of Sri Paramahansa Yogananda who is well known for his Yogoda
Satsang Society, and the "Autobiography of a Yogi".
