Introduction
Dedicated to enriching the lives of visually handicapped people, Touch Read envisions a
bright future where they can fulfill their dreams to gain the knowledge of other cultures.
Touch Read supports the program to supply them free Hindi and English language materials
to enrich their mind with a variety of literature.
It intends to change the lives of millions of visually handicapped people globally
by bringing hope to many who need support and motivation so that they too can achieve
what everyone hopes for - a better life.
So go ahead and support this program today, make the difference in the
life of a visually handicapped person by giving him or her a book to read...
Birth of Touch Read Touch Read is
a project, started in the month of October 2013, to supply other
than course materials, in Hindi and English languages converted in Braille script
free of charge to all visually handicapped people worldwide to widen their horizons.
I took out my all stories hand-written on papers, sorted them out and
organized them for publishing. Then I found that the language I had
used to write them was a bit literary Hindi, then I thought that if I
have to publish them in Braille script, there may be many people who
cannot understand so much literary Hindi or to say the language with
non-spoken Hindi words (bookish language), so I typed them converting
into the easiest to understand and spoken in everyday language.
In spite of
taking the greatest care, a few words of pure Hindi which are not used
in everyday life, have to be included in the stories. I provide them as
a challenge to learn some more Hindi. I am publishing this material
with great hope that our visually handicapped people will like these
books, and not only those people, but even the researchers conducting
research in folktales field.
Its first consignment of one title "Folktales of Nigeria, Part 1" in Hindi
language was sent to 50 schools in Maharashtra State and 48 schools in North
India during the 3rd week of December 2013.
Its second book "Folktales of Nigeria, Part 2" is underway. As soon as
it will be ready it will also be sent to the schools.
Invitation for Support
Presently this project has been initiated by only one person. But if you
also want to help these visually handicapped people.....
You may send your money in the name of "Touch Read Project" to
make more Braille material available to visually handicapped. One book
costs about $2.00 to $2.50 to reach in a person's hands so even your very
little help will benefit a person. Please contact Sapna Gupta :
