Dhaaree Devee |
Taken from Sanjay Rath's article - Dhari Devi's Wrath .... Dhaaree Devee, located on the banks of Alaknandaa River in the Garhwal Region of Uttaraakhand State. It houses the upper half of the Deity "Dhaaree Devee" that, according to local lore, changes her appearance during the day time from a girl to a woman, and then to an old woman. She is perched on the top of a 20 meters high rock. One has to travel a distance of 19 Kms from Shree Nagar (Paudee Garhwal) on Shree Nagar-Badaree Naath Highway up to Kaaliya Saur, then down trek half a kilometer towards Alaknandaa River. According to the local legends, once this Temple was washed away by floods. It idol floated on the water and struck against a rock. The villagers heard the idol's cry. They also heard a Divine voice to install it on its original place. They did that and since then this fierce looking idol has been there on that spot where it was found. She is known as Dhaaree Devee. She was installed under the open sky as it is believed that her temple will not be under roof. Only her upper part is here, her lower part is believed to be in Kaalee Math in Rudra prayaag District. These two temples are aligned exactly at North-East and South-West direction, symbolizing Kaalee as sleeping with her feet in North-East direction and head in South-East direction. This position of lying of Devee causes the energy to flow, according to astrology, in the Jupiter's direction (Eeshaan Shiv) - the Parameshthee Guru. the upper part of the Devee symbolizes the calming of Devee by Shiv. The lower part of the idol is not in the form of the idol, but is worshipped in the form of Shree Yantra. This Shree Yantra was established by Shankaraachaarya at Kaalee Math and is supposed to be the Yoni of the Devee from where all the Creation started. The Kedaar Naath Jyotirling is exactly in the North (Mercury direction for A-Hinsaa) from Kaalee Math symbolizing the husband and wife (Shiv Shakti) relationship and calming the Devee who is in the South direction (Mars direction for agitation, anger and war) from there. The village near the temple is named on the name of Devee and thus is called Dhaaree village. A hanging bridge connects the temple to Dhaaree village. Taking photographs of Dhaaree Devee are strictly prohibited. The
Flood of June 16, 2013 With this shifting the Devee woke up and started searching for Raktbeej who could take many forms and she had to kill everyone. Primarily it indicates unimaginable bloodshed. Exactly the next day, a cloudburst happened and a flash flood started in Uttaraakhand. Thousand of people and animals have been killed in this flood. So return the idol at its original place and start praying her to calm her down. Prayers and worship should be i=offered at Kaalee math and bel Patra sbhould also be offered in Kedaar Naath Temple
