Sarg 51-Raavan Sends Dhoomraaksh

Raavan also heard loud noises in his palace, he said to his ministers - "Do you hear these loud sounds? These loud sounds indicate that Vaanar have something to be happy. There is no doubt about it, because even Saagar is shaking with their sound. Both brothers were tied by sharp arrows (Naag Paash), but this loud sound is creating some doubts in my mind, lest they have got free from them. Go and find about the reason of monkeys' happiness in such a sad time."

Immediately they climbed up the boundary wall and looked at Sugreev's army. Raakshas got very sad seeing that Raam and Lakshman have got freed from the ties of snakes. They got scared too and ran to Raavan and told this unpleasant story - "Indrajeet tied them with Naag Paash in the fight, but now they are wandering around free."

Raavan got very angry, as well as worried hearing this. He got pale. He thought, "if they got free from Naag Paash of Indrajeet, then my whole army is in danger. It means that my those arrows will also fail which, at one time, killed my enemies." Then he said to Dhoomraaksh - "You go to kill Raam and monkeys with your huge army." Dhoomraaksh immediately greeted him and came out of the palace and ordered the army-chief to get ready with the army for war. There was no point in delaying the matter.

Army got ready and the soldiers surrounded Dhoomraaksh for orders. Dhoomraaksh ordered them to fight and they started attacking monkeys with their various kinds of weapons - spears, Mudgad (a baseball bat like bat), Gadaa, Dand (scepter), Paash (noose), Pharasaa etc. riding on various kinds of rides - horses, chariots, elephants. Dhoomraaksh himself rode on a divine chariot which was drawn by donkeys.

He came out of the west Gate where Hanumaan was standing. As he came out terrifying, sky creatures tried to stop him. First one vulture fell on the chariot then others started falling down. Indra started raining blood. Dhoomraaksh got very sad seeing all this. His all soldiers got mesmerized to see this. Then he saw the huge army of monkeys of Raam.

Sarg 52-Hanumaan Kills Dhoomraaksh

Monkeys got very happy to see Dhoomraaksh. Fight started. Soldiers started to kill each other from both sides. Raakshas had their weapons and monkeys had trees, rocks etc. Some Raakshas were churned, some were beaten by trees, some were killed by tearing apart with teeth, some Raakshas' swords were broken.

In the same way, many monkeys were also killed by Raakshas with their various weapons. Many monkeys ran away. Hanumaan got very sad seeing this. Angrily he dropped a huge rock on the chariot of Dhoomraaksh. Dhoomraaksh immediately jumped out of the chariot. The rock broke his chariot completely. Hanumaan killed many other Raakshas too. Then he again picked up a rock and ran to kill Dhoomraaksh. Seeing this Dhoomraaksh beat him with his Gadaa. Hanumaan didn't care for the Gadaa and dropped that rock on Dhoomraaksh. Dhoomraaksh's body got ripped of and he died immediately. Remaining Raakshas ran away quickly inside Lankaa. Hanumaan got very happy to see all this.

Sarg 53-Raavan Sends Vajradanshtra

When Raavan heard the killing of Dhoomraaksh, he got very sad. He called Vajradanshtra and sent him to kill Raam and Sugreev with his huge army. Vajradanshtra got very happy to receive this order. He quickly went out with his huge army to kill Raam and Sugreev. He was riding a very beautiful gold chariot which had many flags and ornaments. Many Raakshas followed him with their various weapons. They came out of south gate where Angad was standing. Bad omens started occurring but Vajra kept patience and came out of the Gate. Monkeys started shouting seeing Raakshas coming out. Both parties fought bravely.

Sarg 54-Angad Kills Vajradanshtra

Vajra foresaw destruction of his army so he got very angry. He immediately picked his bow and started shooting arrows at monkeys. His army also followed him with their various weapons. Many monkeys and Raakshas were killed, many were wounded, many lost their hands and feet. Gradually, Vajra's all army got killed by monkeys in front of Vajra's eyes.

Now Vajra was more furious than before, so he entered monkeys' army alone. He shot many 7-, 8-, 9-, 5-head arrows at monkeys. Now it was monkeys turn. They ran to Angad. Angad came to their rescue. Angad threw a huge a rock on his chariot. Vajra jumped out of his chariot and his chariot got crushed with the weight of the rock. Now they started dual fight. Later both got tired and lay down. In a couple of moments Angad got up with the speed of lightening and cut Vajra's head with his clean sword. Seeing Vajra killed all Raakshas ran away in Lankaa. Angad got very happy to kill Vajradanshtra.
