Sarg 49-Raavan Abducts Seetaa

Now Raavan came into his own original form and said to Seetaa - "You don't know anything about my strength. I can lift this Prithvi with my own hands on my shoulders, I can drink any ocean's water and I can even win death in the fight. I can assume any form I wish and endow any wish you wish. So I should be your husband. Look at me." Saying this his eyes became red and blackened at their edges. He came into his own form wearing red clothes. He said to Seetaa - "If you want a renowned and respectable husband in Tri-Lok, you accept me as your husband. I will be your dear husband and will always act as you will desire. I will not do any disservice to you any time. Why do you think about Raam who is short lived and exiled? Do you consider yourself intelligent that you are living with such a man in the forest?"

Saying this Raavan went forward, lifted Seetaa with his left hand at Her plait of hair at Her nape, and with his right hand from thighs. On seeing this terrorism of a great terrorist forest deities quickly fled away. Then intimidating Her with harsh words he caught Her by waist and put Her in his chariot and flew away by skyway. Seetaa got crazy and started crying saying - "Haa Raam,"

She remembered Lakshman, then said - "Hey Lakshman, You don't know that this evil lusty Raavan is abducting me, please come and free me. Hey Raam, You came to forest to protect Dharm leaving the kingdom, but this A-Dharmee is abducting me, you don't know that? I reckon you that you are not the absolute controller, because you are not controlling this type of sinner. " Then said to Raavan - "Results of the evil doer will not be seen instantly. When the time will come then you will bear them. Your Kaal is near, that is why you are doing this evil act. You will definitely be punished by Raam. Queen Kaikeyee has succeeded in her aim, that Raam's wife has been abducted. I request to fruits, flowers, trees of Janasthaan that they should tell Raam that evil Raavan has abducted your Seetaa. I greet these swans who live on the bank of Godaavaree and request them to inform Raam about my abduction. If He will know this, He can bring me even from the other Lok."

Then Seetaa saw a vulture sitting on a branch of a tree, She said to him - "Hey fatherly Jataayu, Raavan is taking me considering me as an orphan. I know that you are unable to stop him because he is more powerful than you. He has a weapon too, but you tell Raam and Lakshman everything about me so that they can free me soon." (see the Note on Why Raavan Wanted to Abduct Seetaa, 3/19/49]

Sarg 50-Jataayu-Raavan Fight

Jataayu, the majestic bird, heard Seetaa's cry, so he said to Raavan politely - "Hey Raavan, I am the Swaamee of vultures and my name is Jataayu. This evil action is not worthy for you. Seetaa whom you are abducting, is the wife of Swaamee of the world - Raam. How do you lay hands on other's wives? O mighty Raavan, Kings' wives are always to be protected. [The very basic concept of wooing other's wives is both a crime and a sin]. You should regard others wives as your sister. Whatever action is opposite to Karm, Raajaa never do that, because if Raajaa will do such Karm they spread these types of Karm in their public also. You are devilish and lusty by nature, and whose nature is like this, sermons don't work for them. When Raam has not done anything bad to you then why do you do bad to Him?

When proud Khar went to fight with Raam at the complaint of Shoorpanakhaa, and Raam killed him, what was Raam's fault in this? Judge this yourself. Raam is like this and you are stealing away the wife of of such Raam? Free Her immediately before Raam's eyes burn you. You are unaware of the lethal venomous serpent you have bundled on the fringe of your attire, and the Kaal Paash which is loosely around your neck. I have ruled for 60,000 years, I am old and you are young. You are in the chariot with your bow and arrow. That is why I am helpless otherwise you could not have abducted Seetaa. Still you cannot abduct Her in my presence. If you are mighty, then fight with me for some time, maybe till Raam comes. Then He will kill you. I must save Seetaa even at the stake of my life. As Khar has been killed while fighting with Raam, you will also be killed in the same way. Raam has killed many Raakshas till now, He will kill you also. You cannot take His wife in my presence. I can even give my life for Him. You just stay."

Sarg 51-Raavan-Jataayu Fight

Seeing Jataayu  ready for fight, Raavan got infuriated and attacked Jataayu. A fierce took place between them. Jataayu used his paws to stop Raavan's Naaleek, Naaraach and Vikarni like arrows to stop wounding him and to attack him in return.

Seeing Jaanakee crying, Jataayu proceeded towards Raavan without caring for his wounds and destroyed Raavan's gold bow studded with gems and pearls by hitting it through his paws. Then Raavan took out another bow and stormed arrows at Jataayu. Jataayu broke his new bow also, He also broke his armor also. He knocked off his donkeys also which were pulling his chariot. He broke the royal umbrella also which was fixed on his chariot and killed his Saarathee by his beak.

When Raavan's chariot got destroyed then he came out on the ground grabbing Seetaa by Her lower torso. But till then Jataayu got tired, so Raavan flew in the sky holding Seetaa onto his flank. His all things were destroyed leave alone sword. So as he rose to the sky, Jataayu gathered himself and said - "Are you taking Seetaa to destroy all Raakshas? And thus you are poisoning your brothers, your friends and yourself, because Raam will surely kill you. Whatever you are doing, that is the act of a thief, not of a mighty person. If you are brave, then come and fight with me. As anybody does any bad Karm because of his destruction, you are also doing the same. If you can fight with Raam, then Raam will surely kill you in the fight as He killed Khar."

After saying thus, Jataayu attacked his back and started ripping off his skin with his claws' sharp nails, wings and beaks. This hurt Raavan very much. Then Raavan put Seetaa in his left flank and hit Jataayu with his palm. Jataayu broke his 10 arms (in order to free Vaidehee from his clutch) but Raavan grew them again. Then Raavan started hitting Jataayu with his hands and feet leaving Seetaa at one side. Raavan cut Jataayu's both wings with his sword. Now Jataayu fell on the ground. Seetaa ran towards him, hugged him as if he was Her own relative and cried bitterly.
