Everybody knows that Krishn was the Saarathee (charioteer) of Arjun. Krishn behaved properly as a Saarathee. He used to get down first and then asked Arjun to step down the chariot. The battle continued up to 18 days. The last day when the battle had ended and Paandav won the battle, Krishn asked Arjun to step down first from the chariot. Hearing this Arjun got very surprised. he asked - "Why Keshav? You never asked me to do that, why only today." Krishn said - "Do what I say. I want to show you something."

Although Arjun was a bit surprised at this, but since he had full faith in Krishn, he got down from the chariot. After Arjun got down krishn got down. As soon as krishn stepped out of the chariot, the chariot went on flames and it burnt down into ashes.

Seeing this Arjun got very surprised, he asked Krishn - "Krishn, What happened to it? Why is it that it went on flames?'
Krishn said - "O Paarth, This chariot was safeguarded by Me. Since now I have abandoned it, it is burnt down."
Arjun asked - "But why?"
Krishn said - "It has taken so many weapons on it that it should have been burnt down long before, but since I was sitting on it, it was protected by Me. That is why I asked you to get down first, so that you are safe. And as soon as I have stepped out from it, it burnt down to ashes.
