Glory of Bhaagvat

Naarad Jee said - "Hey Muni, Now I will do Gyaan Yagya of Bhaagvat to establish Bhakti, Gyaan and Vairaagya. Where should I do this Yagya? Now you tell me the glory of Bhaagvat and how many days should be taken to read it or what is the special method to listen to it?" Sanakaadi Muni said - "There is a beautiful Ghaat (place near the banks of a river), named Aanand. There live many Rishi and Maharshi. You should do this without any pomp and show. By hearing that Kathaa, Bhakti will also come there with her two sons, because wherever there is Bhaagvat Kathaa, Bhakti herself comes there. As soon as they will hear the Kathaa, they will become young."

So all came to Gangaa's banks. As they came there, all in three Lok came to know about this Kathaa. Bhrigu, Vashishth, Chyavan, Gautam, Medhaatithi, Deval, Devaraat, Parashuraam, Vishwaamitra, Shaakal, Vishwaamitra, Maarkandeya, Dattaatreya, Pippalaad, Ved Vyaas, Paraashar, Chhaayaa Shuk, Jaajali, and Jahnu etc all came there. All rivers, Gandharv, Van, Naag, Dev, Kinnar also came there. Who did not come because of hesitation of being greater, Bhrigu also brought them there. Sanakaadi took Deekshaa to tell Bhaagvat Kathaa and sat on the given Aasan. Among the audience, Naarad Jee was in front followed by Vaishnav, detached people, Sanyaasee and Brahmchaaree. Ved and Upanishad were sitting at a separate place. On one side were sitting Teerth and on the other side were sitting women.

When all sat down, Sanakaadi Muni told them the glory of the Kathaa. He said - "Only by hearing its glory one gets Mukti. This book consists of 18,000 Shlok, distributed among 12 Skandh (chapters). It is in the form of dialog between Shuk Dev Jee nd King Pareekshit. Now I will tell you this Bhaagvat, listen to it attentively. This book alone is enough to give Moksh. In whichever house Bhaagvat Kathaa is read everyday, that house is like a Teerth. Whoever live in that house, it destroys their all sins. Thousands of Ashwamedh yagya and hundreds of Vaajpeya Tagya are not equal to even its 1/16th part. No Teerth can compare itself with the fruit of this Kathaa. Learned people do not consider any difference among the followings - Omkaar, Gaayatree Mantra, Purush Sookt, Rig Ved, Saam Ved and Yajur Ved, Shree Mad Bhaagvat, "Aum Namo Bhagavatey Vaasudevaaya" Mantra, Soorya, Prayaag, Samvatsar Kaal, Braahman, cow, Dwaadashee Tithi, Tulasee, Vasant Ritu (Spring season), and Bhagavaan Purushottam. Whoever reads Bhaagvat with its meaning everyday, his all sins of millions of lives are destroyed. Who reads even 1/2 or 14th Shlok of Bhaagvat everyday, he obtains Ashwamedh and Raajsooya Yagya's fruit. Reading Bhaagvat daily, meditating on Hari, watering Tulasee plant and serving cows - all have same fruits. Who hears a sentence of Bhaagvat in his last moments, Shree Hari gives him His own Lok. It is very difficult to hear this Kathaa, when somebody's Punya rise then only he can get this opportunity. Therefore Hey Naarad Jee, Listen to it very attentively.

Method of Listening to Bhaagvat

Although one can listen to it any time, there is no rule of any specific day, every time is good time, but if one can observe truth speaking and Brahmcharya during listening to it, it is the best. But it is difficult to observe this in Kali Yug, so one should follow the following method suggested by Shuk Dev Jee. It should be finished in one week only because of no control on mind, diseases, short life, and many faults of Kali Yug. It is difficult to follow all rules for many days that is why this rule is made. Whatever fruit is obtained by reading it from the beginning till end everyday, the same fruits is obtained by reading it in one week. This one week listening of Bhaagvat claims for more than a Yagya, or Vrat, or Tap or Teerth, or meditation or Gyaan."

Shaunak Jee asked - "Soot Jee, This is very strange thig you told us. How it became more beneficial than other means?" Soot Jee said - "When Krishn was going to His Dhaam, Uddhav Jee asked Him a question even after listening to Bhaagvat's 11th Skandh - "Govind, You are going now, but I have a worry in my mind. Kali Yug is around the corner, all kinds of evil people will be born and they will make good people also bad, at that time to whom this Prithvi will go to ask for help? I don't see anybody else like you, so please do not go from here. When you have taken this Sa-Gun form, then it is difficult to worship your Nir-Gun form, therefore, please consider my words." Soot Jee said - "At that time Hari thought, "What should I do for my Bhakt community?" So He established His all Tej (power) in Mad Bhaagvat, that is why Mad Bhaagvat is Bhagavaan Himself in person. This is the only Karm in Kali Yug. It removes all sorrows, poverty, and sins; and controls desires and anger."

When all this was happening, a strange thing happened there. Bhakti appeared there with her young sons and she was pronouncing "Shree Krishn Govind Harey Muraarey; Hey Naath Naaraayan Vaasudev". All People sitting there got very surprised to see her there. Sanakaadi told them that they came because of Kathaa. Bhakti said - "You have given me new life, now you tell me where should I live?" Sanakaadi Muni said - "Bhakti establishes a beautiful form of Bhagavaan in people's hearts, therefore you should live in Bhakts' hearts. If you will be there, Kali Yug's bad effects will not affect them. Thus Mad Bhaagvat is the Brahm Himself in person."
