Drone's Past

Drone was very sad by the insult. His childhood friend Raajaa Drupad (King of Paanchaal Desh) insulted him very badly. Drone and Raajaa Drupad got educated together in the same Gurukul. Drupad came from a Kshatriya family and was supposed to be a king after finishing his education. Drone came from a Braahman family and was supposed to be a teacher later on. While they were children, they used to share their things, and Drupad used to say - "Whatever is mine is yours too. Drone, We will share our things when we will grow up too. My half kingdom will be yours."

Time passed, both finished their education and went to their respective homes. Drupad became king, but Drone could not get work of a teacher. In the meantime he got married to Kripaa's sister Kripee and had a son named Ashwatthaamaa. Drone's condition was not good, he was getting poorer. One day he saw that Kripee was giving the solution of flour to Ashwatthaamaa in place of milk saying that it was milk, and Ashwatthaamaa was crying for milk saying that it was not milk and he would drink only milk. Drone got very sad seeing this that he could not afford even a glass of milk for his only child. He said to Kripee - "I am going to bring a cow for my child." and he came out of the house and went away

He thought that his childhood friend was now a king and he used to say that he would share his everything like before so let me go there and have a cow from him. Drupad welcomed him. Drone reminded him about his sharing the things. Drupad said with a sarcastic laughter - "Drone, those were childhood talks. We cannot be equal, and how can I share my things with you, it is just impossible. Forget about those things, those things are of past. You can ask me anything as Braahman, but how did you think that you could be my friend? Friendship is always in equal status people and we can never be equal."

Drone felt very bad with his behavior. He considered it a great insult. Then Drone thought let the time come he will also take revenge for this insult.

Then he heard that Parashuraam was taking Sanyaas and he was giving away his wealth, so he went there with the hope that he would get something, but he was too late. He had already donated everything, even Prithvi to Kashyap Jee. Parashuramm said - "Since you have come here, I do not want to send you empty-handed, if you wish I can teach you some weaponry and warfare tricks and tactics. Drone got interested in it, he stayed back and learned many tricks and tactics of warfare from him. Now he had better opportunities to get a job. 

Then he heard that Hastinaapur's princes were now grown up enough to be educated and Bheeshm was looking for a good teacher for them, he thought to test his luck there. So he proceeded towards Hastinaapur. On the way he met the princes who were standing around a dry well and were in a flux that how to take their ball out of the dry well. He asked them - "What are you doing here? What has happened?" Children said - "Our ball has fallen in this well, we are trying to take it out but it is very deep." Drone said - "Let me take out your ball." Yudhishthir said - "Is it a children's game that you can take out our ball like this?" Drone said - "Let us see." But he never forgot the insult done by Drupad.
