Shakti Peeth

Wherever any of the 51 holy parts and ornaments of the dead body of Satee fell on this Earth, a Shakti Peeth got established.

--Shree Arsuree Ambaa Jee Shakti Peeth is one of them where Satee's heart fell. It is situated at the top of Gabbar Hill as described in "Tantra Choodaamani".

--After the death of Mahishaasur, all Devtaa worshipped Shakti. She then assured them that she would reincarnate on Prithvi as the daughter of Daksh Prajaapati. At that time she was known as Satee and married Shiv against the will of her father. So when Daksh Prajaapati performed Brihaspati Chakra Yagya, he did not invite Satee, as well as Shiv. In spite of being not invited and Shiv's refusal to go there, Satee wemt to her father's place to attend that Yagya. She was not welcomed there and sh found no place for for her husband Shiv in that Yagya too. She felt greatly insulted and as a result she immolated herself through Yog.

At this Shiv got very furious and he killed Daksh Prajaapati. He loved Satee very much, so he picked up her dead body and started roaming around the world. he danced his Taandav Nritya too. All Devtaa got very worried seeing this, so they went to Vishnu. Vishnu cut down the dead body of Satee into 51 pieces with His Chakra and scattered them all over the Earth. This he did to wake up Shiv from attachment for a dead body.

--This Gabbar Hill word, according to Hindu scriptures, has been derived from Garbhar Hill. Here Ushaa, the daughter of Baanaasur (King of Shonitpur and the son of Raajaa Bali) danced with Garbh Deep with Laghya Geet in typical traditional Garbhaa style with her husband Aniruddh (son of Pradyumn and grandson of Krishn) for the first time after their wedding. It is said that Ushaa was the incarnation of Aukhaa, the daughter of Paarvatee Jee. After the dance they went to Dwaarakaa. There she taught this Garbh Deep dance (modern Garbhaa) to all others. That is why this hill is known as Garbhaa Hill. Thus this place is called the birth place of Garbhaa Dance tradition.

--As per Mahaabhaarat Rukminee came here to worship Her Kul Devee and was abducted by Krishn on the Full Moon day of Bhaadrapad Maas. Maa Ambikaa bestowed Her boon that Her wish would be fulfilled. That is how She married Krishn and celebrated Nava Raatri with Her friends and relatives for the first time in Dwaarakaa Puree on this Earth and performed Garbh Deep dance all nine nights.

--According to Devee Bhaagvat, Mahishaasur was a dangerous Raakshas for the whole Universe. So Devtaa went to Vishnu, Brahmaa and Mahesh. The Tri-Dev invoked the Aadi Shakti and requested her to save the Universe. She appeared as Devee and killed Mahishaasur by her sword. Since then she became known as Mahishaasur Mardinee in the world.

--Gabbar Hill has been mentioned in Raamaayan also. When, according to Raamaayan, Raam and Lakshman came to Shringee Rishi's Aashram in search of Seetaa, they were told to worship Ambaa Jee at Gabbar Hill. Raam did so. Devee Ambaa gave Him a miraculous arrow named "Ajaya" by which He was able to kill Raavan. ????????

--There is also a legend that Krishn's Mundan Sanskaar was also performed here in the presence of Nad Jee and Yashodaa - his foster parents.
