Perhaps we must try to understand the logic implied instead of applying the rules literally? ANS: It is of utmost importance (a) to use the methods described in ancient scriptures (particularly those of BPHS) and (b) to see the direction of interpretation of given constellations. When there is a statement like 'will be bereft of children' in Saravali (when Mars in 5th), this is a very extreme interpretation. Looking at the direction of this statement we know at first: Mars (a natural malefic) in 5th (a Trikon) is not good. This is the very first point: Malefics in Trikon, secondarily in Kendra (except when in good Avasthaa) are harming, damaging the significations of the Bhaav. Mars in 5th could mean: We have to assume a psychological view in 21st century - which wasn't necessary in ancient times where astrology only was for the powerful and rich people (who were interested in Raaj and Dhan Yogas...). And, of course, Mars in 5th Yuti with a benefic, or receiving many beneficial Drishti do not damage the significations of this Bhaava in the way if he would stay alone. Other example, Sun in 12th Bhaav, bad placement of Sun due to ancient
classics. In good Avasthaas, Sun can lead to Moksh in my view, in increased
