Ashtottaree Dashaa

Ashtottaree Dashaa

Ashtottaree Dashaa is perhaps the second most important Dashaa System in India, after Vinshottaree Dashaa System.

BPHS describes two conditions to use it --

(1) If Raahu is in 4H, 5H, 7H , 9H or 10H from Lagna Lord,
(2) Birth is day in Dark Half of Moon or birth in night during bright half of Moon.

It is not specified in BPHS whether both conditions apply.
The first condition is cited to others - but the second condition belongs to Paraashar Rishi and  in my own D1, both conditions are met and Ashtottaree works wonderfully well. But at the same time Vinshottaree Dashaa also continues to work.
Theoretically, if both conditions mentioned above are compulsory, then Ashtottaree Dashaa System is applicable to nearly 25% of natives.

Astrologers may test this system. It should work in all parts of the world. The fundamental rules of Jyotish are not restricted to any region or caste or creed.

I have experimented with Vinshottaree in all its possible manifestations : Sudarshan Chakra birth charts (16 Divisionals and their 16 Vinshottaree tables from their respective lunar longitudes), 21 Arudhaapad charts of all Divisionals, DACs (Dashaa Aarambh Chakra), Vinshottaree planets in five levels of VPC (Varsh Pravesh Chakra), Kaarakaansh charts, etc etc.

My experience is that when both conditions of Ashtottaree are fulfilled, it explains events better than Vinshottaree. In Vinshottaree Dashaa System, either Dashaa Aarambh Chakra are needed or Sudarshan Chakra must be used, but when Ashtottaree Dashaa System is applicable, it makes things very very easy and there is no need to view so many charts.

If I add that SSS will give better results, some persons will take it as an insult. Even if Drik is used, over 90% of Mahaa Dashaa timings will be correct if birth time is nearly correct.
