Astrology is a divine science, that is a mix of mathematical calculations and a divine power from the part of the astrologer, then only an astrologer can predict correctly. Kaarttikeya is often considered as the Lord of astrology. There is an interesting folktale which tells why astrology isn't hundred percent accurate.

Once Shiv and Paarvatee were telling their son Kaaarttikeya about the Time and it's uncertainty. Kaarttikeya told his father Shiv that he was aware of a way to predict the future. Shiv was greatly pleased hearing this and asked him to predict Shiv's future. Kaarttikeya immediately told Shiv about his astrological prediction and said that according to it, Shiv would prove his supremacy over Brahmaa. Shiv was greatly impressed hearing this prediction, but Kaarttikeya further added - "Father, You also have the fate to roam on the Earth as a beggar." Shiv got very angry at this prediction and cursed that Astrology would only be half true from then on. He could do this for others, but, he himself was unable to overcome his own fate and had to roam the Earth as a beggar eventually.
